  1. Nice, same time stamp. What's that they say about great minds....?
  2. Well said. Also, check out DipG's 6 gallon tank (4 gallons less) and beautifuly executed.
  3. It's a good idea, but good luck finding a deli, or somebody with a slicer to let you do it!
  4. If you end up getting the Hammerhead, or any of those other Algae Free magnets, they come with pads for Acrylic, I'm presuming that you already know that though. That's a tough one, I've never seen one in person, so I don't know what the texture is like, a fine steel wool? You could always go to the dollar store and get a couple of cheap temporary tattoos, and then have Jenn wear them down for you
  5. Well said. Hard PVC, not flex, good looks though! Thank you!
  6. Good to know. Yeah, Home Depot is garbage when it comes to plumbing. I presume this is what I'm looking for.
  7. Nope, signed on for another year. You know I don't have that type of patience. I've had a lot of interest in the 57 and I haven't even thought about getting everything switched over yet, will keep you posted. So I ended up with a DC-6000, I figure it was a solid investement, and perfect for what I need. I've plumbed the tank with 3 drains, and 1 return, which happens to be RIGHT by my pump, so win win there. On top of that, I'll have 2 x mp40 and 2 x WP40, which will allow for more flow than I'll ever need. The only thing between me and water flowing is a 1" to 3/4" reducer for my return loc line!
  8. I had to search to find this, but maybe it will answer your question.
  9. So I got this in order to hook up my return. The only thing keeping me from getting water moving. It's 3/4", and I'm looking for a reducer, as my return plumbing is 1" pvc. So when I'm looking for that am I looking for a 1" x 3/4" reducer? Also, my loc line piece that is 3/4" is threaded, so I want a 1"slip to 3/4" threaded (M or F?) reducer? Also, is this a piece that I should be able to find at Lowes (Home Depot is a no go...) Seems like a silly thing to ask about, but it's the only holdup at the moment!
  10. Sep. 15th, huh I'm wondering if I'll be ready by then. Looks like you've got some scraping to do! Congrats on your new tank, I'm sure you're thrilled.
  11. When i added a hippo it definitly was shy for the first few days, granted I didn't have any fish picking on it. It still is skittish, but has come out during feeding times, and is getting more familiar with my feeding baster, I had to make sure I was feeding close by it to slowly coax it out. Like Rob suggested, moving things about and trying to find it seems more detremental than helpful. Just my opinion!
  12. Wicked! Very exciting things happening every step of the way!
  13. Slowly but surely! Yeah, two MP-40's and..... I bought two WP-40's through the group buy to play around with them. I've seen them in action on Jason's tank, and they perform. The only test that they still have to pass is the test of time. I'm not saying I'm going to run all four of them, and something tells me if I don't need them/don't want them it seems like they'll retain their value if I wish to sell them down the road.
  14. Not sure Alan. It was advertised as a GBTA, but I don't think it is. It has amazing coloration to it, and it's oral disk is differently shaped from my RBTA's for certain.
  15. It's getting better, Nem seems to have found a spot. This picture may show it better: It's been going for the past week now, I just put all my corals, fish, and live rock in it and let it ride! Just kidding. I have picked up both a medium sized yellow tang, and foxface that are currently QT'ing in the 150. Not a real QT, as I don't plan on treating anything. I have a 300W heater, two large hob filters with rubble rock from my 57, and and another one with sponges and filter floss. I have the mp40 for flow, a pvc hiding apparatus for stress, as well as two power heads agitating the top of the water. Plan on putting them in a temporary 100gallon while I move over the rock and what will hopefully be a quick cycle. You got me! The 57 is packed, and so is my living room with different saltwater holding containers, Richard came over and helped me with the plumbing last night, and it's ready to get wet, I just need to figure out what pump I'm going to end up using. I think I'll probably end up trying out one of the DC 5000's.
  16. Do you think they are still under warranty? Paul, sorry for the troubles. Always a good reminder when it happens to somebody else to double check everything. And what the H-E-double hockey sticks is a record What kind of glue makes the music stick to it?!
  17. I plan on using two mp-40's, and two of the jebao jb-40's in a 150. The MP40's are already hooked up on the back wall on either end, and I will probably put the JB's on the side.
  18. Go to the bottom of this page, and click where it says "click here" to download the layout. This is what I used for my evergrow lights. I'm seeing great growth, and the blues are adjustable on a seperate channel. I'm incredibly satisfied with it. You can of course find the standard layouts for any of the evergrow lights, I just linked you to what I have.
  19. Consider running a schedule when you're home. It's your box, you will want to watch it. I recently learned at this past FFE that a lot of people do this. lights go on at 2pm, get home from work at 5pm, have a couple hours to watch the tank/enjoy the tank, blues, lights off.
  20. I'm with Kim on this one, I love the look of a tinted back glass.
  21. So, there is a slight exageration there, they are not round like pennies, but they are definitly almost the length, almost look like little underwater grasshoppers. So good call here. I do have a pistol shrimp.
  22. Internal for now. A year out will be a different story. The sump is plumbed for a dart pump. It's 36" long, with another 8-9" or so with a ball valve running off the side. If I were to add an external dart pump, I would have to shift everything about 1' to the right, which would cause the tank to protrude into the doorway, which is not happening. Once we move, and I have a bigger wall, a wall I can plumb behind, or a taller stand, then it will be an external pump.
