  1. Good job! It must be rewarding! I'm not far behind ya.
  2. Rock work is amazing. Build is amazing. This is a build that was going places from day one.
  3. piece of cake. I can swing by early afternoon? Does that work?
  4. Hey man. Sorry, meant to call this morning. I've had some major tank changes over here. I'd be more than willing to swing by and give you a hand tomorrow. Do you have a drill and different bits? Are you using a toggle bolt?
  5. It was incredibly healthy, no doubt in my mind it will heal quick. If it comes down to it, the GBTA is going. It's beautiful, but definitely easily replaceable, the OB is one of a kind IMO. Thanks for the advice. It's closed up around the hole now, in what appears to be a defense/healing mechacnim. It's slightly puffed up again today, I'd say it's on it's way. The GBTA has been on the move for quite some time now, it can't seem to get happy like the RBTAs, strange. It's my understanding that the anemones will always come out on top.
  6. Fair enough. It looks simple enough. Probably less than an hour of work to be honest, that's not including the home depot trip though.
  7. Every time an acan eats a snail, a fairy dies.
  8. Do you find you get a reflection of the lights in your glass with the bare bottom?
  9. No thoughts, other than he looks angry! I'd say carry on. But who knows what else others will say.
  10. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Thanks Jack! That's hilarious, I haven't taken a bit of time to even look at the stand, my fiance standing by is the funniest thing I've seen all week.
  11. So I see all these nicely plumbed aquariums with PVC, and I'm wondering what the advantage is over using flex tubing... if any. Is it just cheaper? Is it more reliable? What is the disadvantage of just running this braided tubing hooked up to some union valves?
  12. So I have an Open Brain Coral that when fully open is about 10". My GBTA decided to walk about again a couple of day ago, and stung what appears to be a dime shaped hole in the OB. It has browned up with light brown... sawdust looking... protect ant? I took a baster and gently pushed it off, and there is just a hole there. In hindsight, I should have left it, but I thought it would help it heal. It has not swollen up like normal since. I'm sure it will heal, but I'm wondering if there are any precautions I should take or if there is anything I can do?
  13. Definitely a FOWFAO fish only with fake pieces all over. That glass alone must have been pretty pricy. Bet you they use coasters on that bar.
  14. I think I'm picking up what you're putting down. I can wait till tonight, and appreciate the offer. Right, my math adds up, but I didn't write about it. 1.5+1.5=3 and then 72-3=69" sorry about that. Redoing the legs only a 1/3 of the way up to the very top would mean buying a new slab of 2 x 6. I would have enough left over from the four 69" pieces that I could have 2 appropriately sized legs. Would it make a difference if I used one long and one short on opposite sides... think one long bottom left, on short top left, one short bottom right, one long top right?
  15. So the pieces coming down the length of the side are 72" long (6ft). that means I have 1.5" to subtract from there, which means I would have two 69" 2x6's butted on the inside. Then repeat on the bottom, so four 69" pieces. Then you thing I should re-cut the 4 inside legs to actually run the whole 42" high, and have the bottom and top butt against the new 69" pieces I added on the inside? And then, cut the center "brace" down to fit in between again, and throw a piece of plywood on top as well?
  16. I'm not sure I understand this. Adding all these parts is not an issue, I hope my picture illustrates what you are talking about, I think it does. The black marks are the cuts I would make, the red ones are the additional 2x6's I would be adding (obviously on both sides, I didn't draw them on the right hand side. That is what you're talking about?
  17. Thanks for the kind words. Sorry the last half of the 15 pages was me complaining and talking about stands. I look forward to watching how this goes, and I agree with your true union concept, you can always change. I think once I have something in place, unless I really hate it, it's not changing!
  18. Thank you! Thanks Jack! I was thinking what Alan said below... Correct, 22" deep, which leaves 17" open in between the top beams. The tank is 18" deep, so length of the tank will rest .5" on the front and back beams. I was hoping what you said, as it's built to 72" long (the exact length of the tank) that with a piece of plywood on the top, and then corners resting on the load bearing ur's. Try not to be awed by my mock up drawing skills... I know they're good:
  19. Honestly, even a sump that was 16" tall is still a stretch. I'm sure once I get er' done I'll say "(insert any variety of profanity here) why didn't I do THAT?!" Stand is on it's way. This is my first time every building something, so it was daunting, but i think so far so good. I went with the design you left me on my other thread from Rocket on RC. It feels solid, and there are just a few steps I need to take in order to make sure it's done. I made it 22" Deep in order to fit my 16" deep sump. I actually accommodated to have 17" deep, but wanted room for play. I went with 40" high, with the 2 x 6 it ends up being 42" high total. I'll have no problems getting in there any playing around below, so that's really exciting for me. Might need an extra tall step stool for working in the back of the tank though! My only concern with the 22" depth, is my tank is 18", which means it will just barely rest on the outer beams. Do you think I should put some support beams down the middle, and along the top?
  20. TE III is Amazing. You will love it. Thanks for the deal guys, will be ordering here shortly.
  21. I have the hammerhead algae free, does a great job. My only experience though.
  22. A BBTA It's a side effect of LEDs, I took another one yesterday with closer colors. So these are what you're suggesting. The idea is sound. Because it's my new bed. That and I've got a lot of big things coming up over the next couple of months, was hoping for a switch before life got in the way and I was sitting on my hands for a while here.
  23. I don't think I'm ready for that at this stage. I agree with ya man. I'm thinking maybe when I move... Dude, I've made NO progress, I've just complained and thrown a bunch of ideas around. My most recent being: Plumbing the tank outside. Now I know I've been saying that's not an option. but I was thinking this morning. I've got a coffee table on the left hand side of the tank. I don't have a wall behind, but I do have space for it there. It would sure as H-E-double hockey sticks be easier to build a stand, or coffee table over the sump/skimmer there then any of these other options. Now I've heard mix and matched reviews on flex tubing for plumbing. I'm thinking I'll throw the sump on the side tonight, and just use flex tubing instead of pvc, and I could be rocking and rolling....
  24. I like that structure on the left, good job throwing it all together! I have never plumbed before either, it's daunting, but I'm sure you'll do fine.
