  1. Yes. For the sole reason of fish. I'm looking to add about $800 of livestock, so yes, for pods, and all the other good stuff .
  2. I use an egg crate divide, but you could easily make an egg crate box as well.
  3. Go crazy, go wild! Why not put it in your sump with a fuge light over it?
  4. I don't have any advice for you, but I hope the fish comes around. I tried to search a couple of other threads, and they all yielded information along the lines of: Powder Blues are hard to keep, and QT if possible, and also, QT will stress an already stressed fish out. There are a lot of options. Seems like all you can do is ride it out, and let it be. I don't know if a lights out would in any way shape or form help, but maybe it will keep it from stressing out more, and mellow out the tank inhabitants?
  5. Not a thing, but here is the second suggested step, if you're going the 90 day route. For best results, it is advisable to run your circulation pump, protein skimmer and activated carbon, and to keep the lights off during this process. However, there are 100 ways to skin a cat.
  6. I believe tom marked the bottles as well that he made. The bottles should have 3 gallons (this is all from memory, so I'll check when I get home.) So a third of the bottle makes a gallon. I also used this to dip zoas with, no ill effects at 15 minutes.
  7. As well as the Chevron, I should mention. So now that I'm thinking about it, $40 vs. $140 sounds a lot better. Especially when you're talking about a fish that's easier rated to keep, and looks great (Vs. The Achilles.) I don't know why I'm so hellbent on the Achilles though. I like them all!
  8. I was going to say bubbles, but Dave said it better as well.
  9. Steve and Vince were my one shop stop, even when they were in a basement, they always had what I needed. They held my hand when I started, and I'll share my customer service story (which is pretty much every time I go in, but this one stands out.) I ordered an ORA Mandarin from them about a month and a half before they started their move to Springfield. At that stage, they were hard to come by already, and they told me that it would probably be about a month and a half out. I was still building a pod population, so not a big deal. At their grand opening, probably about 4 months later, and after I thought they had forgoten about me, when I walked in, they had found a way to get me my ORA Mandy, and remembered, amidst setting a new store and all that hectic jazz.
  10. Sure you can, but then you're running the lights.
  11. Yeah, I don't think there is a constant with this. Just a few basic guidelines you can follow, and then hope for the best. That is a good looking fish, but same genus as the Achilles. Although it is certainly cheaper!
  12. Thanks for thinking this out, Matt, I appreciate the input. After researching the different Anthias, a lot of them seemed more like deeper water fish, agreed. The red stripe ones seemed to dwell in "shallower" waters. Putting a deep water fish into an aquarium doesn't make sense to me. As for the tang, I have heard some issues as well with the PB, as for the purple, I didn't research them too much. Background is black, but I'll probably stick with the achillies. It's my favorite on that list, of not even just tangs. I don't plan on keeping a "refugium." I will have a section in my sump for cheato, as well as a lot of live rock, and some scattered sand. I plan on running fallow for 90 days, as well as adding tisbe from the containers along the way, I already have a large population from the live rock I added, and given the extra time I'm giving the tank, as well as adding pods, I venture to say I'll be alright. I think the tangs might go in first, but it just seems like adding all the fish around the same time will work best.
  13. I would expect to spend in the low end of $300 when looking for a good used macro. JMO.
