  1. Cocktail shrimp Works
  2. Cool thanks much...I think this is my game plan then... Introduce the fish with a regular qt ... Drip acclimate Then after a few days if everything seems ok and Fish are eating...replace half the water with fresh saltwater and then doze prazipro...let them treat in it for 5-7 days ... After treated transfer to a seperate holding qt with clean water and if ok move to dt If There is any sign of ich In the above process then use copper safe ( so qt will have copper plus prazi pro) at this point...after 5 days remove the specimen and add theM to a normal untreated qt...if ich returns add copper safe and continue to monitor until last ick falls off and then wait 2-4 weeks to add back to dt. Monitor ph and ammonia during qt period and adjust / make changes as needed using a ph buffer or amqel
  3. Ive read that mardel copper safe isn't good for tangs What about ich-x...is that safer than copper safe for tangs I am also considering hyposalinity but I am afraid of ph imbalance with it Also some sites seem to indicate that most wild caught specimens have a high probability of internal parasites even if they don't show signs...so I was thinking of using prazi pro as a remedy for that...is that safe for tangs...just using tangs since they seem delicate compared to most other specimens
  4. Oh and I have PVC pipes for hiding in all 3
  5. I am setting up a couple qt,s for no medication and plan on using a 3rd bucket qt for medication if needed 1) qt1. -10g with air stone and a small hydor for circulation....I do have a heater but the temp seems to stay steady with just the pump running 2) qt2 - biocube 8g 3) qt3 medication tub- with heater and pump for agitation. I used water from my dt for each of them...is there anything else I need to do...how would I maintain ph ...? The mediation i would use if needed will be mardel and prazi pro....should I medicate or prazipro dip everything even if it is healthy and eating or just put them in the 1/2 qt and observe I have 2 qts incase I get more fish or if I need to move to a 2nd for w.e reason
  6. Let's see a pic
  7. can anyone add corals that cannot be dipped i know from my personal limited experience only 1 so far 1) Hawkins enchinata please add more so they dont die during a dip that can be avoided or look for alternate procedures like a QT
  8. gotcha that was the byo cleanup crew
  9. wait no qt for the la stuff ?
  10. i stopped keeping hermits because i thought ceriths would sift the sand and keep things clean...they do a good job with the sand and decent with the glass and rock...but dont consume certain types of nuisance algae hermits eat more gunk than ceriths...think of them as hyenas of the reefland....hermits eat everything when hungry i think the drawback of hermits is ofcourse eating other snails and they can poke corals around and annoy them when walking around to get from a to b. turbos are also cool since they eat everything too (mexican turbos...not the astrae which are also sold as turbos)
  11. give it time ...u will get there
  12. That sucks...Hope they can isolate the root cause soon
  13. This is going to be sickkkk Grats

  15. i planned on keeping couple mollies in the reef being that they are brackkish water and are known to do well in a reef setting so i drop accilmated it yesterday over 4 hours....tossed it in by around midnight... woke up this morning and saw one in the vortech sticking out and the other near a brain coral dead i watched them for about 15 minutes in the night after they were in and they were swimming around fine. not sure what to make of it...are they just unaware of things like a vortech...with a lack of a sense of direction or should i acclimate them even longer...or is this just a plain bad idea to begin with i liked the idea of having them because they are good alage eaters and they would supply a good source of live food with the babies they seem to produce easily and frequently
  16. Grats ...lots of fun ahead
  17. I hear they can talk at times....I'm getting this nowwww
  18. Ryan Ever considered getting a 2-3 yellow tangs in small to medium sized.. I was at quantum reefs the other day and he had 3 yellows schooling....schooling fish look very cool...think about how an anthias would look by itself vs in a pack as we kno it. Gsp does look cool...waving around...in the currents
  19. ive been thinking of getting some fish from a lfs but they have smudged whitish markings on the fins...what is this a sign of ? they are flat and not tiny bump outs like ick usually has is this a sign of a ick spore that has already broken out...or just some normal markings that go away ive seen this before on other fish and it seems to go away with time...just wanna know what it is
  20. Got the same after Ryan recommended +1
  21. 135...I'll check out more on the possum Leopards seem hard to maintain
  22. that was on the top of my list....but i think they may go after my cleaner shrimp and pistol shrimp and other snails...
  23. hey i was looking for a list of wrasse that will bury themselves when spooked rather than take the aerial route to go carpet surfing only one i have had experience with is a melanarus wrasse and he never went airborne i am planning a yellow wrasse this time and was looking to get 1 more preferably with a little pink/red in it but ill settle for anything colorful that is reef safe and likes to bury
  24. Is the durso making a gurgling sound...if yes...I've had success making a small hole and either leaving it as is or sticking a small piece of tuning in it ....it's made mine silent....dead silent
