I came home and saw the feather duster with its top half of of the shell torn off...so I thought maybe the wrasse went for it...anyways...I relocated both pieces to the the sump...and then noticed that the entire fan worm was outside hurried near the sand...I moved it quickly to the sump ...but will it grow a new shell or will it die... It's fully open ATM ...but cannot retract anymore since its cover is gone.

That's indeed very sad to see...

Try sticking it under a rock to make it look more natural to them and have a couple tiny pieces float around to maybe have them taste it while swimming.

I've never see anything reject frozen my sis...not sure of its nutrional value ...I used to avoid it cause it's messy food. But I plan to go back to some meaty stuff again to treat the once a week...ATM I only use dainichi and nori....what nori are u using ..red or green.. Sometimes they learn from watching...I've had all my tangs eat nori after seeing the wrasse devour it.

Use the dainichi pellets ...they have a lot of green veggies in them and good for tangs...my tangs love it...their color is good ...and it doesn't cloud up the tank at all....the best pellet I've used ever.

I was going to setup a 10 g qt tank.. Couple questions Can I use an airstone Should I use carbon in a qt tank in the filtration. I have a 250 w spare heater ...can i hide that within a PVC pipe and use it or just get a small 50 w heater

Get a melanarus wrasse...mine devours any he sees...only place I have some left is in the sump...in the dt they are all gone.. I got a frag the other day and dipped it in 2 FIshies ...and put it in my dt ...then my wrasse was inspecting it and within a min he pulled out a nice big worm and gobbled it... I don't know how he saw the thing...I could even see it lol

I measured my cal which is 320 and my kh was 120 so dkh is around 6.4 So for starters I was going to raise the cal by 50 over day aiming for 420 by 2-3 days... Then I was going to raise Alk by 1.4 per day so aroun 7.8 by day 1 and stopping at around 9 by day day 2 Once I have those two at the set amounts I was going to start with a small dose of 0.2ml per gallon since I have very few corals ATM...so roughly 130 gallons of water ...again I have 135 cube with 40 some gallon sump...so 130 gallons of water would be a higher assumption considering there rock etc.. So anyways I am starting with 26 ml per day of ca and Alk each I haven't measured my mag yet so no dosing for that ATM.

Thx..I'll try autozone tomorrow...I used paper for the dry powder but I had Alk mixed ...so I needed plastic for the liquid section..thx all.

I am trying to configure this thing.. First question...is it essential that It be mounted vertically.. Just wondering if I can mount it sideways... 2nd question lets say I plan to go with the brs calculator and dose 0.4 Ml per gallon does that mean 0.4 of ca and Alk or 0.2 of each... Thx

Also before my brown came along my kole was a terror...now he is super social...weird how they change My kole even beat up my maroon go figure..

I too went with the brown...but that was cause I found it more attractive...not to say the blue isn't...its just as gorgeous...for some reason the brown drew me in more.. If I had gotten a naso ..then I wud have gone with the blue...but some folks advised against nasos Rob, Care to explain why delaying the addition of fish for few months would help...are u just waiting for the tank parameters to settle or for a source for them to feed off from the rock...isn't that something that will develop with time anyways as it matures.

4 tangs should be good for hair algae..

I figured since it was an established tank with live sand and a sump with pods etc...it wouldn't need the usual cocktail shrimp etc...

It's a kind of starfish...but they split and spread very very easily...almost to the point where u can trow a handful out and not notice even losing them. They don't do harm..but if u don't want hundreds of them...toss it out I have a lot of them now.
