  1. I dont think those are "bleached polyps" but dead area's and a possibility could be due to another coral stinging it..

  10. So after i came back from a 5 day leave for thanksgiving weekend i noticed some brown stringy algae on rocks. From previous experience, i know these are dynos. I have not introduced any corals or anything from 3-4 months... The only changes last few weeks was that i changed my lights from leds to an ati t5 unit and i added one filter sock ( was not running one before ).. So, any inputs on where did these came from? Maybe from my water? I use an ro unit, no di though. Tds is 8 at the moment. Im doing the 3 day light off and 1ml/10g peroxide treatment... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  12. Thats true but we all have to admit there are tanks out there that look better than real reefs too and do not control the PH.
  13. You can grow anything with that light... BTW I have a buddy who has a ATI powermodule hybrid 8x80 watt T5 & 4x75W LED clusters for sale, if you are interested, let me know.
  14. I recently upgrated to a 6x24w powermodule and I did experience this on my tank and according to the PO, the bulbs are over a year old.
  15. What I meant with my statement is that the majority of reefers out there dont use a test kit to test for PH since it is changing depending on a lot of factors, from what I heard things like lights on, windows open, your tank next to a vent, etc.. A lot of people do monitor it with equipment like RKL, apex, etc but they dont use a test kit.. Thanks for all your responses!
  16. I dont have a controller but I might get one to control my new lights & other things. I see that the basic RKL is only $120 but it doesnt include a ph probe & module. Im questioning myself if these is really needed? In this hobby, ph doesnt really get tested very often.
  17. Oh yeah, I have been hit by those too..... Im stopping by HF today.....
  18. I did keep the same light schedule but the bulbs are 1 year old according to the PO.... Im turning off two bulbs and leaving 4 for the moment.. I also noticed that the alk line for the dosing pump got loose and ALK dropped to 5!!! in just two days.... Could this also play a role in pale corals?
  19. I am sure it was the mushroom, it didnt felt like saltwater but almost like pepper spray! This was a blue mushroom i am not sure if has anything to do with it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Thanks guys, they cleaned my eye with solution and gave me some anti bacteria eye drops.. What a lesson. It makes me wanna get rid of all mushrooms and zoanthids lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. So long story short, tried to remove a blue mushroom from a frag plug and it squirted my eye! I immediately felt my eye was burning even after being rinsed for minutes with tap water... Im now in the ER being treated... I learned my lesson, wear gloves and glasses whenever working on corals... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
