  1. I have the same birdsnest and even with my alk at 5 it still looked great
  2. Very nice! makes me want to build another tank myself lolll High quality
  3. everything seems happy, great polyp extension
  4. Build looking great. BTW, I have the I have the same marine magic dosing pump and it works like a champ.
  5. Are these test kits old? I have used API for CAL and ALK with no problems
  6. And I highly suggest you monitor your Calcium and Alkalinity on a daily basis untill you get your parameters correct.... CAL and ALK are linked together..
  7. thats because you have been adding B-IONIC 2 part.... Part 1: Alkalinity Component 1 Gallon (Raises Alkalinity) Part 2: Calcium Component 1 Gallon (Raises Calcium) Stop dosing part 1 immediately.. Dose part 2 untill calcium reaches around 420ppm
  8. If you are going to get it make sure its not the RED SEA CORAL PRO, just buy the regular RED SEA salt
  9. Then yes, 19 drops using that dropper and it turned from blue to yellow then your alk is very very high...
  10. Are you measuring ALK with this:
  11. IO is high on alk, usually 12 is the limit in reef's and IMO thats pushing it.... Get just one cheap 50lb bag of one of those salts posted on the link... Red Sea would be my choice since it is available locally.
  12. Send me a picture of your test kit

  14. High Alk is one of the most dangerous things for corals. Stop dosing, you dont need it.... My advice would be to get a salt that is low in ALK and start doing small daily water changes twice a day.
  15. Did you raised the skimmer using a platform like an egg crate platform?
  16. Thanks for the diagram, I printed it out so I can tape it inside my brother in laws kitchen cabbinet lol
  17. thanks for all the info guys, acording to the guy I bought it from, I have the 98% version
  18. I have to check with my brother in law's since this is for his tank. he has 100 pounds of rock but I don't know where they come from, probably from the Caribbean.
  19. thanks for your reply, I have a few questions if you dont mind: After it stopped foaming, how did you removed the rock? Heavy duty gloves? or did you added water or baking soda to stop the reaction? Also when was it safe to add the rock to the tank? What solvents did you use to rinse the rock after the bath?
  20. I have seen amazing tanks on RC that nitrates range from 5-25 so its no suprise for nitrates to be at this level.. Now on phosphates thats a different story, maybe we are paying too much attention to lowering it where we dont need it. I recently stopped using gfo and 2 months later along with dosing some amino acids and i even added two more fish, my tank looks the best it has ever been! I believe that a very mature tank with a lots of fish is the right environment for healthy corals. Lots of inport and export of nutrients..
  21. Can you guys post some details on this process? I read that is supposed to be 10:1 (Water : Muriatic Acid) for only 10 minutes..... Does this sound right? I will be soaking around 150 pounds of dead rock to remove any phosphates in them.
  22. Water top off due to evaporation you do not have to add salt..
