  1. True love- sitting on your husband's WAMAS account buying him corals while he's at work. Benefits- making sure your husband doesn't spend too much money on said corals.
  2. I've ordered from their eBay store before and they were excellent! Everything was just how I ordered it and it was all packaged up great. No complaints from me about them.
  3. They already broke it apart. The Kenya has a nice ball of slime coating the top of it but the acan looks just fine.
  4. Checked the tank yesterday and noticed one of my kenya trees wasn't as open as it should have been. Upon closer inspection, I found that one of my acans was attempting to digest it! Was able to get this pic, you can see the insides of the acan all over the kenya tree.
  5. You said your bubble issue is in the last sump section with the return pump right? If that is the case, then shouldn't just raising the water level in your sump fix that?
  6. I use a Sony A350, but they have a whole line of Alpha DSLRs that are good beginner ones. They all depend on how much you want to spend. The thing I like about Sony is that image stabilization is done in the camera body itself, not in the lens. This makes the lenses slightly cheaper compared to some other brands. Additionally, Sony bought Minolta a while ago and all Minolta lenses will work with a Sony camera. They are older but still work great. And you can usually get them pretty cheap, they may not all have autofocus but some do. I've handled other brands before but to me the body of a Sony camera feels more solid than others.
  7. You'll never regret buying a dedicated macro lens, here are some early shots I got with mine: This is one of my favorites:
  8. The macro filters and other attachments mentioned here work pretty well, I used something similar for the longest time. Eventually though, you'll get fed up like I did and you'll find yourself in the camera store purchasing a 100mm macro lens . Best investment ever!
  9. The 70-200 is an awesome lens. I have one for my Sony DSLR as well. Makes taking sports photos a breeze. If you're worried about the weight, I use a monopod occasionaly, works wonders. Any tank pics yet?
  10. Another observation, I have a RBTA that will half bubble/half extend. The side that bubbles is the only side that is pressed against the rocks when it opens up. So not sure if it rubbing up against the rock all day has anything to do with it or not. Lighting (LEDs) and flow is the same across the whole nem.
  11. First off, for the best shots no matter what lens, turn off all of your pumps and set your camera's f-stop somewhere around f/11 or so with your camera on a tripod. I use a remote shutter cable but the built in timers on most cameras works just as well. The idea is to give the camera a few seconds to steady before the shutter opens. Lower ISO settings always help as well. Now if you want a really good lens for close ups, I would look for a 100mm Macro. They also make macro lens attachments that you just screw on to your existing lens, cheaper route.
  12. It's not really out there but I love Midas blennies. Mine is always out and about, has great color, and a cool swimming style that reminds me of an eel.
  13. I think it really comes down to volume and aesthetics for ya. The eco is 5 gals with no overflow whereas the nuvo is 4 gals minus the space in the overflow, so less space. I personally like the look of the eco the best but would like the ability to hide a heater and top-off floats in the back chamber of the nuvo. I had a BC29 while I was at college, worked out great and I loved it, just the right size for college. But hey, if you're still undecided then just get both
  14. I lost power for about 40ish hours. Luckily my apt is a walk-out basement style so my tanks stayed right around 76 the whole time, actually had to throw a couple of hot hands in there to keep the temp up. I had a battery powered air pump going and everything seems to be doing good for now. I have one gbta that's a little ticked off but I'm hoping it will do just fine.
  15. Well I just pulled the trigger on updating my BC29 lighting. It was time to replace my T5 bulbs so instead of buying a whole new set of them, I just decided to go LED. I have a Rapid LED DIY fixture over my 40B and love it so I decided to go that route again. I ordered their 24LED retrofit kit for Biocubes with a 14 Royal blue and 10 Cool White mixture. I'll be sure to post pics and keep updating once everything comes in.
  16. I've used it as well before and no problems either.
