  1. You can also jerry-rig one with a soda bottle that might work. Also, some stores might just let you borrow one if you ask nicely.
  2. The only other thing I can think of is you didn't by chance brush up against with your hands did you? Sometimes the euphyllias can be a little sensitive to any oils or anything on your skin.
  3. Lets see if I can explain this without pics. I had the same problem with my ATO sensor being in the display tank. To fix the problem, I got a small collection cup, drilled a hole in the lid to screw the float switch into and then a few holes around the sides and bottom to allow water flow in and out. Having the float switch isolated inside the cup prevents the waves from affecting it and the holes allow the level in the cup to fluctuate and reflect the tanks level.
  4. Those are AWESOME! Reminds of seeing the pygmy seahorses in Indonesia. FTS?
  5. I have seen some tanks where they cover the back with a piece of colored acrylic. Some have used something like the 3M velcro strips to hold it on that way it can be easily removed if need be.
  6. That's awesome! I love the random tang that pokes his head out.
  7. Thanks for the help guys. Sounds like the consensus is the reeflink is a good idea. Anyone by chance know how long the 50% sale is going to go on?
  8. So the wxm module allows for wireless configuration on your computer but that setup is then done through apex software I take it? Thanks for all of the good info!
  9. Good to hear some positives about it. At first glance it just sounded like a glorified way to access your ecotech products on your phone/tablet while you were out of the house.
  10. So say you didn't have the reeflink but had both vortechs/radions and an apex, how does the setup of the ecotech products work? I mean do you have to use a USB or Ethernet to a computer, all on the apex, or what? Also, is there a way to access ecotech products at home on your computer/phone without the reeflink? I've never owned either ecotech or Neptune products but am making the upgrade during the move and was wondering if I should take advantage of the half off reeflink special.
  11. Anyone have the ReefLink? I'm curious what capabilities that it provides and if it's worth it.
  12. Well at least you found out what the problem was and great idea for the fix. Way better than using some filter floss that would just get all gunked up.
  13. Looks exactly like the diving we had in Raja Ampat! The best looking reefs I have ever seen. Coral so prolific that there wasn't even a bare patch of sand.
  14. A kalk paste delivered via pipet right in the mouth will get rid of them.
  15. I use 1 gallon jugs that came from bottles of distiller water.
  16. So as I mentioned in an earlier thread, I ordered a Bubble Magus dosing pump and now I finally got it installed! I'll have to say this thing is pretty amazing. The programming of it is really easy, just select the pump, enter the total ml/day, enter the number of cycles/day to divide the dose into, and then press 'enter'. The other feature of it I really like is the manual mode which essentially allows you to turn the pump on for as long as you hold the button down. This comes in really useful when first setting it up as you can prime the lines all the way through just by holding a button down. Now the only thing left is to get the right dosage dialed in.
  17. I'll second the Rapid LED choice. I purchased all the stuff for my DIY kit from them and they are excellent. Can't speak for the puck though.
  18. Nice! My clown goby used to do the same thing with my clam.
  19. I use ESV B-Ionic salt mix and don't get any of the brown gunk. Granted it is a 4 part mix and costs a little more but it can be used immediately after mixing. I have also let it set mixing for 2-3 days and have not seen any brown gunk.
  20. That's his own dumb fault! I mean what did he expect to happen when spear fishing by sharks. I agree, I sure hope it doesn't turn into a "this is why sharks are bad" video.
  21. Looks great! If you are going to do the acrylic cover on the back, why not just get some black acrylic from the get go instead of painting?
  22. Not sure if it's available for Android but there's Aquarimate on the iPhone that does trending of parameters.
  23. Will do. It has to be better than manually dosing each day.
  24. Haha, that's the quick route to the dog house! "Hey honey, look what I got you for your birthday. A vacuum cleaner!"
