  1. Are you done yet? I'm definitely eating at your restaurant in front of that reef bro...probably wouldn't order fish though.
  2. Now that's inspirational! What's your favorite thing about your tank?
  3. That is a beautiful setup with great rock work for a happy ecosystem. The proportion of tank to stand overhang is spot on too. Good times ahead dude!
  4. Thanks guys! I'll look into that derimming idea also. I'd like to see that Biocube idea!
  5. Thanks! I'll ask over in your thread but is it the low iron one?
  6. Hey peeps in the know, While I wait to restart the hobby with a large tank after a 1.5 year break I want to start a nano (less than 20g)...I'm too impatient and need a challenge! Plus Jan's food is too irresistable. I'm starting this weekend. Anyone know which LFS carry rimless tanks like the mr aqua long 12g rimless or others? I'm in Rockville but can drive with a 30 miles radius. Also any light suggestions for such a small tank? Except for tank, heater, pump and maybe light everything will be DIY with a challenge to spend under $200 total! Thanks, Nishal
  7. Amazing shots! I love that lens! Did you do any stacking for any of these? More please!!
  8. That's looking pretty awesome. Is that GSP in the middle?
  9. Thanks everyone! Can't wait for it to fill in.
  10. is my 65 gallon after 1.5 years. Used an iPhone but I can see I need a real video camera!
  11. Nice! Now your hands will get bitten with a smile.
  12. Montipora polyps. This coral is really growing in it's new spot in the tank and growing both upwards and in a plating form.
  13. Are you serious? Thanks dude. If I ever decide to professionally print these you get a free one.
  14. Your corals always do really well in my tank. Acro is finally starting to grow and show polyps again...it's safe for now and until you decide you want to start growing it again.
  15. Messing around with the camera and different perspectives plus going a little darker. Let me know what you think! Deep water Acropora...I think Another Acropora. Check out the geometric polyp!! Ora German Blue Montipora...I think.
  16. Dude, I never even thought about that! I'll have to partake in the competitiveness. Thanks very much. One of the aims in leaning photography and using the tank as a subject was to create a wall of art showcasing the beauty but also fragility of corals and our underwater world that is in danger at Artomatic in DC. Non-reef keepers are amazed by these creatures and really start thinking about the beauty they have never experienced and also the environment and the damage being done or that can be done after I start talking about it. At the least they are now aware. Artomatic will not happen this year and I still have a lot of work to do to become a better photographer. I also wish I was business minded enough to take advantage of this to recoup the cost of camera lenses!
  17. Thanks. Very beautiful specimen, love the color. I think that has got to be one of the best looking corals I have ever seen (your specific coral). I have a frag of icefire that has never grown, still brownish and now harmed by recent developments. Congrats and let me know if you decide to frag that thing!
  18. Corals are starting to grow again and gain some color original non-brown color back. Hawkins Montipora Acropora - originally a light to medium blue but turned completely brown...tips are turning blue
  19. This is what happened when a coral fell on this birdsnest...pure calcium carbonate.
  20. Nice! What is the blue coral in the first sps photo?
  21. I didn't but I had enough of a view to know there was no where else it could have originated from. It wasn't fine detritus and sand. I know this tank really well. I admit there could have been a snail there that spawned but I couldn't see any.
  22. Unfortunately it happened so fast and I was so stunned that I didn't have time to take a pic before the MP40 took care of it. I got this Kole Tang a few days ago from the LPS the day in came in from their supplier so maybe it was primed and ready, happened to land in my tank and had to release. This is how it went down. Steveoulaw was passing by in his car playing Barry White really loudly as I was watching this fish messing with the sand between a few rocks. All of a sudden I saw what looked like massive streams of denser water with a cloudy center coming up through the rocks from the exact space where the Tang was hanging. I can't be sure if they were eggs or sperm as I don't have enough experience with fish porn. Sea urchins yes. The insane flow in my tank dissipated it quickly and a few seconds later the Tang was out swimming again. It all happened so fast...so it's probably a male releasing sperm, or so I hear.
  23. Thanks Max. Hopefully it remains stable for a while without any bugs. Below is the same bellina with AEFW bite marks from a few months ago, then it got worse. Now none. By the way, those blue hornets are from you and growing insanely fast.
