  1. Some updates. MACNA was insane, and I limited myself to three mushrooms from Dr Mac. 2. Just search "live edge wood" in ebay search
  3. Squishie... I wanted SOO bad to get a scoly, but did not. Took major will power. A few shrooms from Dr Mac: IMG_0779 by mteske1, on Flickr
  4. It's really not that bad, and no need to sweat my post. I would say I have personally had only 2-3 bad metro experiences ever. I grew up in the area as well, so that's a long time. Also, I am claustrophobic so things like stopped trains in tunnels for periods of time, and walls of people probably bother me more than most.
  5. My philosophy with DC is get there very very VERY early in the morning, and park in a garage. Some garages even have early bird specials. Spend a couple hours eating breakfast and reading the news. Your day will start out great, and you won't be stressed. Honestly, I would rather sit in afternoon traffic than deal with the red line. Been there. This assumes the closest metro is 30+ minutes. If I lived near a metro it would be a different story.
  6. Very cool creatures, and interesting setup for sure.
  7. Quick Update: Abigail, born 7.29.15 abby by mteske1, on Flickr
  8. Site is hot! I have one pet peeve. I wish there was functionality to view all.
  9. Very very impressive tank!
  10. Do you plan to add some form of nutrients to give the macro something to use?
  11. So wait, it's not real?!?!?!
  12. Since you have a hood I would consider the addition of 2 T5 bulbs to supplement the Radions (or any LED you end up with). A T5 retro can be bought for almost nothing, and it would balance out the tank nicely to avoid any shadowing.
  13. Here is a cool site for driftwood etc: http://www.aquariumplants.com/Driftwood_Bogwood_s/4.htm
  14. NICE! Reminds me of my tank, and I love it.
  15. I have always liked NLS pellets and occasional mysis
  16. I'll take a few. I have low flow, and no filter socks. And a lot of junk in the sump.
  17. I'm just saying kalk is balanced, so there is no need to try to tweak it with vinegar to adjust the alk level in your tank. Ideally you would get the level balanced with two part then rely on the kalk moving forward. I can't say whether you should scale back or not.
  18. Boost your calcium with some 2 part then cut back on the kalk to maintain levels equally. Kalk maintains things in balance. You shouldn't find yourself in a situation like you are once things are aligned. There is a chart with balanced levels somewhere. I can't seem to find it. 19. My first thought would be not having dosing pumps on relay outlets, but all 4 outlets on EB4 are relay. Only 2 on the EB8 are relay. Very sorry for your loss. Don't get too down.
  20. I never ran the 20k 150w radium, but I have heard the 14k phoenix is actually more blue than the 20k radium. I am speaking specifically on the 150w versions of these two bulbs. The MH look will be a lot different than LED. When people with LED say 20k it is always way more blue than a 20k MH. If you have not run MH before the other thing to note is you can't turn the bulb on and off and on and off repeatedly. It needs to cool before being "re-fired."
  21. If this is the light I traded you it's an M81 ballast. 150w bulbs. http://hamiltontechnology.com/item/Metal-Halide-150-Watt-HQI-Assembled-Ballast-371 Best to run an HQI 150w like the 14k Phoenix. Edit- The ballast is not checked M81 on the enclosure, but it is an M81. It's marked on the inside. Hamilton just used that enclosure, which is the same. The bulb I gave you with the light is a 150w Phoenix. It has lots of life left. I only ran it for a couple months about 5.5 hours a day.
  22. Looks really good.
  23. Drain as much water as needed. Get fish. Add water back to tank.
