I need to find a frugal way to feed the rotifier and most important reduced labor and space. After been reading a couple forums and articles, here are the 3 options to feed the rotifier: 1) Culturing your own phytoplankton by buying the nano culture kits from Florida Aqua Farm 2) Using Algae Paste from who?? 3) Feeding roti with yeast based product - like bakery yeast (add selco 12 hours prior to feeding roti to larvas) I am more interested in the option 2 and 3. If I purchased a (let say 1L of the algae paste such as Rotiplus), can i break it into portions and have it frozen in the freezer for up to a year? As for the yeast based product, how do you do it?

I think i have the similar problem with a couple of my acro and zoas...i have low alkanity and causes low pH..I started to dose kalk with ATO...zoas seems to bounce back but 1 piece of sps is dying..from base up..should i frag it to save it?
-
That stuff is cyanobacteria. Reducing light aint going help. Increase your flow. Manual removal using the some net, at least you can reuse the water.
-
saw that..a little pricey but it's nice. Now we have a few options out there 1) Good old Buckpuck - $15 a pop driver 6 leds or 7 if you are using XP 2) Meanwell - 40P or 40D or the 700mA one 3) Stevie LED driver 4) TRC

I am thinking about dosing my 12g nano tank. There are some location I can't reach..i have some GHA and bryposis growing...i m thinking maybe 1ml...i don't have a skimmer though
-
They do spread though. Best way i kill them off is using either epoxy them or glue them
-
Found you something..Lowes has it. 5g bucket on wheel Maybe they have different options in store. http://www.lowes.com/pd_39130-1738-20000_4294856872+5003717+4294965396_40_?catalogId=10051&productId=3033026&Ne=40&identifier=Quickie&N=4294856872+5003717+4294965396&langId=-1&Ns=p_product_prd_lis_ord_nbr%7C0%7C%7Cp_product_quantity_sold%7C1&storeId=10151&searchQueryType=1

i m planning to order some from them....want to go in for saving on shipping? Shipping is $12 flat regardless how much you ordered
-
Dip it then gently brush it with your tooth brush then stir it in the water before goes back to tank....so far i have no see any GHA back yet...all the plugs
-
Have you guys check out this site? This guy apparently running a website and doing all the negotiation with vendors and do group buy on all LEDs and drivers and acce. Looks legit. www.ledgroupbuy.com
-
Maybe you should use a maxijet + hose to drain water and pump new water back in tank ..
-
Same here..I would love to come over with a cutter to cut 2 small frags..that green thing and pink thing lol.
-
i would imagine you don't water change that often since such a big volume of water and probably there is plenty behind the scene. Also you dont have much corals in there..so minerals are not a factor ...
-
Very neat..Baltimore National Aquarium like a LFS compared to them...the national aquarium sucks anyway..the Australian display is a waste of space..rain forest is a waste of space (I pay to see aquatic life ..not some rainforest sloth)
-
Did you dose the tank with h202? A lot of my algae came from frag plugs (corals I got from other people) GHA just pop out of nowhere. I am afraid to dose the tank with h202...not sure what's the effect on sps or lps
-
I tried dipping frag plug (zoas only) that has a lot of gha and some with bropysis in peroxide, looks like all the algae are gone..it has been 3 days now..
-
I heard about having your nitrate around 2ppm-3ppm and don't do any water change for 2 months+ will starve off the dino. I read it somewhere in RC i think
-
at least you found it out after 1 day.... me on the other hand, unplugged the heat and pumps during water change before I left for Christmas on Wednesday night...Plugged the pumps back and forget to turn the heater back on!...I found out about it when i get home on Monday afternoon when the tank temperature is like 73F....but who knows what was the low point during those couple days!
