  1. hi I just go back to the hobby as well! Thanks to @BlueAntec for his RODI. I'm making water again. However I would suggest to clean and soak your RODI canisters in water mix with bleach for 30 min then brush it and rinse it. Air dry them should be sufficient
  2. Very true. I tested with 2 other refractometers. Both of them reading 0 on RODI and they are in the 40ppt on the brightwell solution which supposed to be 35ppt
  3. yea I really do not want to go down that hole! What is your conclusion?
  4. So apparently Brightwell calibration solution is not accurate?? I used that solution to calibrate to 35ppt and then i tested it with RODI, the reading is below 0! Someone told me that issue with Brightwell? Any suggestion or some home made solution you guys used?
  5. What you guys think or have experience on some of the RO membrane they selling? $15 for 2! How's compared to Filmtec? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0719H4BVL/ref=as_sl_pc_tf_til?tag=&linkCode=w00&linkId=&creativeASIN=B0719H4BVL
  6. nice. I have a 3D printer as well. Are you using PETG filament?
  7. Thanks. I am looking at that as well as HIPARGERO as well. Both of them looks good and range from $60-$100. Way cheaper than AI Oh I will be doing a lot 3D print project too. I need to get PETG filament first.
  8. So after 8 years of hiatus, I have decided to buy an Innovative Marine Fusion 10 tank. Since DA is out of business and Neptune controller is literally price gouge, I am going different direction. Here are some of the things I will be doing Parts are ordered 1) Temperature and cooling automation using STC-1000 that will automatic cool or heat the tank as needed - tied to heater and PC fan. Cost $22 on parts not including heater or PC fan 2) Optical Sensor DIY ATO - Pretty simple project probably cost $20 Things I still need to get 1) RODI unit since I sold mine 2) Decision on lighting - AI Prime HD or blackbox. I think AI is overpriced just because we can control it.
  9. After my move from MD to VA (from home to condo) I am thinking about getting back into the hobby. But I am looking at pico tank. Do you guys have any recommendation? I will try to keep it simple and soft corals only with no fish. I still have some left over stuff from my previous tank...powerhead for mixing water. I am thinking some sleek clean AIO tank without any mess and required not much upgrade at all. I have been looking at the Cadlights Mini 4g. What you guys think?

  18. I won't be any fest for a while since I m taking a break ..my old tank is 10" deep too so we are similar. The par38 bulb can be use to twist in any standard light bulb fixture. I will throw in those ikea light bulbs hanger too.. However, I work in DC, if you can meet up somewhere? The bulbs are in my office lol long story............
  19. Yes, leds are back in sale, last guy backed out or something. I have it under SPS, LPS and zoas and they did grow.. It's really depends how deep is your tank. there is somewhere in the web, someone take the par reading on it.... What pump does the Vertex skimmer use? I am tempted but you are too far away for me. Honestsly I don't remember, I can google it. The vertex in-80/100
