  1. I just moved and didn't realize how much stuff I have actually accumulated. Some of the stuff I can't even remember using it. I have more empty tanks then full ones. Everything ended up in the half dozen rubbermaid totes I have also collected for various tasks. I even have about 200 pounds of live rock just sitting around waiting to go in my next tank
  2. Wow that's gonna be like 250 miles round trip for you surf. I would have suggested getting a moving truck of some kind, but recently had a really bad experience with penske. I was quoted a totally different price a few days before, and I went to pick it up I was shocked at what they wanted. It might still be a good choice for you tho.
  3. Congratulations Rob - zygote2k , August's POTM winner Thank you everyone for voting.
  4. can you place a container around the hermit and the shell to keep them away from the shrimp?
  5. Thank you everyone for your submissions this month.
  6. +1 on any welding supply place, at my work that's where we get our liquid oxygen. They store their gases in bulk so that usually makes it alot cheaper then other places. Plus if you already have your own tank the refill should cost less as well.

  8. I have always made the polls public, I like to see who votes for who. I always vote for the picture I think is best, I don't just vote for mine just because I submitted it.
  9. Oh I forgot, the CUC packages have free shipping, so you'll have to factor that in as well. But for the things that I wanted to buy I typicaly saved about 5-10 bucks ordering everything seperately.
  10. I got my last crew from reefs2go, they had pretty good prices and everything arrived just fine. The snails that I order from them a few months back just spawned, now I have hundreds of little snails all over the glass. I would order everything seperately then buying one of their "packages". On many of the packages the pricing is way higher depending on what you choose to get. For example you can choose 60 blue leg crabs or 15 red leg crabs, the blue leg would cost 30 bucks or the reds would cost 9 bucks, thats a HUGE difference. Just decide what you want to get and see which way is cheaper. They also have sales all the time, buy one get one free. The blue legs are on sale now, so you could get those cheaper if you bought them seperately, as Im sure they wont give you twice as many if you bought the package with blue legs.

  16. We currently only have 2 entires for POTM for June. It not only takes the participation of the members running the POTM or TOTM but also the rest of the members of the club to be involved and sumbit something. I dont really want to "complain" but we have hundreds of members active on the site thru out the course of the month, and there are several dozen that are very active. I know at times people are very busy with the work and personal lives, I myself havent had much more then a few minutes to sleep lately it seems. Is their a way to get more participation from members? POTM committee is open for suggestions.
  17. What test kit are you using, have you double checked it with another kit? 25 ppm seems like alot for only a days worth of soaking in that amount of water
  18. Looks like they might be a west coast company branching out into DC, their website is a lil bit funny, it's a total rip off off of instant ocean, they use the same header and border.
  19. Most CO2 tanks use a CGA 320 fitting, while Nitrogen tanks use a CGA 580 or CGA 670. The CGA fitting for nitrogen is also used for other non flammable gases such as helium, neon, or argon. Since the fittings are different most gas suppliers wont fill a tank with a different gas for its intended use. Also, I forgot to add in my other post, CGA fittings dont need tape or dope. The seal is made between the surfaces of the regulator and tank. Using tape wont serve any real purpose as it wont seal anything like it would when using it with male pipe thread. For a CO2 tank I would use a nylon washer, And use a NEW washer everytime you change the tank or remove the regulator.
  20. CO2 Cylinders and O2 Cylinders are not the same and use different fittings, As do many other gases. This is done so that someone cannot accidently use or refill a product incorrectly. With oxygen most of the regulators have a T handle to hand tighten cylinders, this for the ease of use for a patient using smaller tanks that need to be replaced frequently. I assume on an ambulance you are using at least a D or E size cylinder. Once you go bigger then that size you no longer use the hand tighten regulators and have a regulator that needs to tightened with a wrench. This is similar to what is used on the CO2 tanks, but again it is most likely a different size connection. Just thought I'd share some of my knowlegde of O2 tanks, I work for a home medical provider.
  21. Where's Chad??? Everyone must be waiting for him to go first. BUMP
  22. Hey everyone, we have all been doing a great job with The POTM so far, so I thought I'd choose a topic to be a little more creative with. And The Topic Will Be.......... 25. Is it too early to call dibs on the little guys??? Haha jk. I'm looking to get a pair for my tank soon, hasn't someone in the club breed them before? I thought I remembered seeing a thread before about them, I'd rather buy from a local breeder. Might also be able to give you a few pionters
