  1. GREAT PICS, makes me really want to get away someplace. my fav
  2. Maybe he went to the Caribbean for vacation for the week. I could use a week away myself
  3. That would be really nice if we did, costs a small fortune for a family to go there anymore. I don't believe we do get a discount tho, although I'm pretty sure we do for the national aquarium in dc. I'm sure someone else will chime in with more details.
  4. Are you sure that it didn't just molt and what you found was the old exoskeleton??? It will look exaclty like the live shrimp. I would guess that's prolly what happend and your shrimp is just in hiding until it's new exoskeleton hardens up a bit. Look around for it the next day or so and you may find it still alive and healthy.
  5. Best 20 bucks you'll ever spend in the hobby
  6. Any member may submit a picture for the contest. Even the officers, hint hint.
  7. Im not sure if this is the vid I was thinking of or not. Its not vertical, but the same princle with using a slow stream rather then the silly putty dam.
  8. I have seen vids on you tube of people drilling tanks while the tank was vertical. They used a garden hose with a very slow stream of water coming out. Being indoors you probably cant do this, but if you had one pouring water from a jug or something that would work. Just need to be able to catch the water without making too much of a mess. Also, I wondering if putting tape on the glass would help in case of a cr... ( didnt want to say it, but you know what I mean). Would it help hold things together for a bit and not cause an instant failure? I'm thinking all the pressure of the water pushing out could cause a blowout.
  9. What doesn't anyone know morse code anymore??? It says " Its time for a tank upgrade"
  10. Umm what kinda flooring do you have??? Apartment or house??? I tend to think about worse case scenarios. But I say do it. Maybe it will make POTM one month for diasters. JK hope all goes well. I have a 55 that I wish was drilled and it's way too close to the wall to do anything but tear down first.
  11. When I drilled my tank I used a jig made out of just cardboard. I didn't want to have to buy a new large wood bit just to drill one hole. It worked simple enough, just traced the outside of the diamond bit then cut with scissors. It held up even while submerged in water. Once you get the cut started the bit won't walk around anymore so you can remove it. Just a tip I thought I'd share even tho yours is already cut, maybe it will help someone else.
  12. My American DJ 8 outlet has the cord permanetly installed, bought it on amazon a year ago for about 30 shipped
  13. I think Chad likes to be first... 3 months in a row. For a guy who says he has a hard time taking pics sometimes you sure have alot of great ones for the contest. Never seen anything like that before, its got my vote, but it is the only pic so far haha.
  14. Ive always heard people say to change the flow, point a PH towards it. That should make it move to a more comfortable spot, but no way to know where it may end up.
  15. Wow, when I started reading this I thought it was going to be one of those never ending debates again. It's kinda sad, it was keeping me entertain for a bit, oh well I guess now I can go find a KFC and a Chinese restuarant, I'm hungry for some reason. Good to see Mr.Coral was vindicated it seems.
  16. Congratulations forrealb50, this month's winner. Thank You to everyone that participated this month.
  17. You said that after your Y you have both pipes going up 4 ft. Would it make more sense to have 1 pipe rise the 4 foot height then split near the top of the tank??? That would mean roughly 4 ft less pipe you would need, so less friction. It would also help with head pressure too I assume.
  18. Please Vote Now For April's POTM Only a few days left to vote, Poll closes friday at midnight. Only 21 votes so far, I know we have alot more members then that!!! APRIL POTM Thanks, Steve Plus check out the New POTM GALLERY. We took all the entries from past POTMs and put them in the gallery for everyone to see without having to back thru all the old threads. From this gallery random pictures are being used on the Homepage, so anyone visiting the site will see what fantastic things our club has to offer. I have still have a few more to add, so far I gone back to mid 2007. Some of the entries were lost because of using photobucket and having the original removed, but I've found as many as I could. There are some really great photos, hopefully they will inspire you all to enter future contests. May's POTM will be here shortly.
