  1. Pros and cons Which one is best for LPS and SPS. Why? Please give me as much information as possible. Thank you
  2. Yikes, I've only had him 1 week.....seems longer, but it's only 1 week.
  3. I've had mine for 2 weeks now. He's a character. Very fun to watch. He's got attitude. He eats long hair as well as the flat algae. He likes to hang around and scope out the place until he's hungry then he'll start to graze. He goes at it until he's had enough. Then he perches on a rock and watches everything. I've not seen him bother anything else. He and my very agressive possesive maroon clown fish (Joker) have stand off's every now but it's only when he gets too close to Jokers den. I haven't found any teeth/bite marks on Joker, yet. He has teeth and that's how he scrapes the algae off the rocks. He also likes coralline algae when there isn't enough green. But he much prefers the green stuff. Between him, my emerald crab, hermits and snails my tanks algae is definately in check.
  4. Beautiful, bright and clear, photos. Keep up the great work!
  5. I used undergravel filters 20 years ago for my marine tanks. I had 2 very strong power heads attached to the UGF on opposite sides of the tank. A strong pull from in the UGF is an absolute must. They did great but I also had a hang on filter, as suggested in the article. There was a tremendous amount of detritus that accumulated under the filter. At the time I used about 2" of crushed coral. I don't know if the new ones allow for use with sand, they didn't 20 years ago. Clean up was a pain in the neck because I had to practically knock down my tank to get to the undergravel filter and yes even with 2 powerful powerheads there was A LOT of build up under that filter, there was also alot of life. I had some type of little crustacians growing under the crushed coral. I'm not sure what they were but they kept my madrins very well fed.
  6. A sime is a tad larger than a dime but no where near the size of a nickel.
  7. I agree. I go there at least once a week. Zack is very helpful. He's definatley the guy to see. Their corals are very nice. They had a marine ick/velvet problem a couple of weeks ago in a couple of tanks. They were trying to treat without chemicals. They lost a few very big beautiful fish. Inspect well before you buy.
  8. It's about the size of a sime. Much bigger than others I've found in my tank. The others are much lighter in color as well. They're more white/beige. This guy is blue out of the water and teal in the water. It has tiny yellow dots on the back center.
  9. I found this guy roaming around. Does anyone know it's name?
  10. Tanks, Piece a cake, now I'm a pro , not really. thanks alot guys.
  11. I did it, I did it, I did it!!! I cut the mesh around them and glued them on to a rock. Thank you you both. How long can they stay out of water?
  12. Thank you for such a speedy reply. How do I take them off of the mesh they're glued on. Do I just cut around it until the mesh is underneath and glue mesh and all to rock or Do I peel or cut them off??? OMG I can't cut them, not yet anyway. Do I glue on top of the glue?
  13. How do I attach a ricordea and a zoanthid polyps to my rocks? LFS glued them all to one plastic piece mesh.
  14. WOW, IT looks like spring in there. Great colors. Great job! I want my tank to look like yours when it grows up I'll be taggin along so please keep posting....
  15. That's really pretty.
  16. What else are you using? I have chemipure too. So far things are okay. I do have an oily substance on the water. I've aimed the powerhead up for more circulation but the film is still there. I think the filtration needs to be bumped up so I'm going to put in a max-jet 1200. It can't hurt. What's your maintenance shcedule like?
  17. Why do I have bubbles on the algae on my rocks? I do have a lot of diatom algaeand what I think are patches of hair algae in a few places. I have cleaners and I'm scraping...but the bubbles?
  18. I spoke with the owner. I'm getting the mod cup in a week. Thanks everyone.
  19. Thanks Jason....why are you the filter freak?
  20. I'll have pics up as soon as I stop messing around with the landscape
  21. Thanks for the recomendation Zygote, but I've got the skimmer and reactor. So far everything is working great.
  22. I think you're right. I think it's considered an albino. There is also a fresh water species, the pink Amazon River dolphin, Inia geoffrensis, found in the Amazon basin. They are considered albino.
