  1. I second that. Great time with some really nice people. Very easy, very nice. It was nice meeting you both. Thank you Rob!

  4. I know, I know...that's pistachio brittle! I couldn't resist
  5. Very cool.
  6. I have an emerald crab that appears to be eating coral. This crab would hang out hugging a kenya tree and eat algae all day. It wasn't a problem. It never showed any interest in coral. Now it looks like it's sampling the base of some new coral. I think it's the emerald crab. I don't have anything else that could pick at the stem of coral like this. I tried catching it but of course I couldn't. I need to get it out. How do I do this? Once it's out, what do I do with it?
  7. LOL, treasure tank.
  8. It's a treaure trank. Really really nice.
  9. What do you do as far as maintaining your tank and feeding livestock while you're on vacation? How do you manage?

  13. Thanks everyone. This site explains A LOT about T5 lighting; basics, lamps, fixtures, DIY, and much more... http://tfivetesting.googlepages.com/
  14. Thanks Bob. I've also glued a bullseye mushroom that came mounted on mesh I don't mind handling these critters but I can't handle hitchikers like worms and brittle star fish. I lose it. My family cracks up because I start yelling while I break out into a yucky dance I can't stand them!!!! I really need to wear gloves when I handle the rocks. Very cool Tee.
  15. Am I on the right track with this one? Nova Extreme HO Light Fixture - 2 x 18W - T5 - 10,000K460nm - 18 in. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000YHIB78/ref=as...mp;linkCode=asn
  16. WOW! So the T5's made the colors pop? Is it less or more expensive than MH? Are the bulbs cheaper to replace? Does one emit more heat than the other? Does one need to be replaced more than the other? Are there other advantages/disadvantages to having one over the other? My stock lighting isn't doing it for me.
  17. Pros and cons Which one is best for LPS and SPS. Why? Please give me as much information as possible. Thank you
  18. Yikes, I've only had him 1 week.....seems longer, but it's only 1 week.
  19. I've had mine for 2 weeks now. He's a character. Very fun to watch. He's got attitude. He eats long hair as well as the flat algae. He likes to hang around and scope out the place until he's hungry then he'll start to graze. He goes at it until he's had enough. Then he perches on a rock and watches everything. I've not seen him bother anything else. He and my very agressive possesive maroon clown fish (Joker) have stand off's every now but it's only when he gets too close to Jokers den. I haven't found any teeth/bite marks on Joker, yet. He has teeth and that's how he scrapes the algae off the rocks. He also likes coralline algae when there isn't enough green. But he much prefers the green stuff. Between him, my emerald crab, hermits and snails my tanks algae is definately in check.
  20. Beautiful, bright and clear, photos. Keep up the great work!
  21. I used undergravel filters 20 years ago for my marine tanks. I had 2 very strong power heads attached to the UGF on opposite sides of the tank. A strong pull from in the UGF is an absolute must. They did great but I also had a hang on filter, as suggested in the article. There was a tremendous amount of detritus that accumulated under the filter. At the time I used about 2" of crushed coral. I don't know if the new ones allow for use with sand, they didn't 20 years ago. Clean up was a pain in the neck because I had to practically knock down my tank to get to the undergravel filter and yes even with 2 powerful powerheads there was A LOT of build up under that filter, there was also alot of life. I had some type of little crustacians growing under the crushed coral. I'm not sure what they were but they kept my madrins very well fed.
  22. Thank you Boret!
  23. A sime is a tad larger than a dime but no where near the size of a nickel.
