  1. Sorry for your loss, I too have felt the sting of a jumper.. just don't let it get you down. I too suffer from the affliction of OCD.... "Move it, till you like it". And, if you never do.. so be it.
  2. Update: we have added a single female Lyre tail Antihas from F&F( will be going for a male when they come out of QT) And, I picked up a Bi-color Blenny from BRK Today.. Yea, I know not the most exciting fish but, I had one in my old 90 and I love this fish! great personality.
  3. Yea I like that Idea. We're going to be taking a few of the smaller pieces out eventually so that will give us some different levels in the tank. We've got a pretty good cave in the middle that comes out on the right and a couple more in there that are harder to see in the pics. We might put another rock right in the center that sits out a little bit. Of course I'm sure we'll change it 100 times before we're completely happy w/ it!
  4. Those both look awesome!! Getting the "itch".. we are at 40ppm nitrates but, all other parameters are good. Now it's just a waiting game. Here's one more pic.
  5. Really? Seems as though it may be easier than i had originally thought...
  6. I had one of these before, caught him in a LR piece I bought.. However, I know these are pretty hard to acquire? Anyone know where I could get one when I'm ready?
  7. What did you end up using?
  8. It is mostly against the wall because we wanted to have a large sand bed area exposed and e wouldn't be able to see much behind the rock anyways because it's a corner tank, so no side view. We have our heater in the sump too and could always add another power head to one of the sides of needed. We are pretty happy w/ the water-flow atm tho, but we'll be able to tell whether or not we need more once we start adding more, can't wait!!
  9. Has anyone ever used a larger footprint mag float on curved glass? We have a 92 gallon corner tank and on our previous tank we used the large foot print mag float (since it covers more area at a time) but I'm thinking it might not sit flush on the glass and want to know for sure before going out and buying one. Any thoughts??
  10. So we had the tank all scaped and thennnn had to take it down to add the sand (oops). That's ok tho... Here's the sand storm: And a couple of days after once we moved the rock around and filled in some holes. Funny thing is we didn't really "scape" it because the tank was cloudy, but we're thinking we like the way it looks anyways so we might not change much. And here is today: The pics aren't the best but you get the idea!! It shouldn't be toooo much longer before we're ready to start adding inhabitants, yay! ~Rebekah
  11. I'm gonna put it on 6" pump ups, which should be fine in case of a flood. However I already simulated a loss of power, and the sump can hold the water...
  12. My only concern with this particular sump, would be my M/H lighting ballast (which is the size of a steel toe boot box) I'm unsure about where i would put it.. The sump seems to be covering every inch of the stand... here is my current sump, which replacing a failed pump etc.. would be painful at best
  13. Yep, That was exactly what i had planned.. Also with be placing cheato in there too.
  14. It's becoming more evident that i may have to do just that.. Or else it may be "Off with his head!" lol
  15. I planned on placing rubble in the fuge.
  16. I guess i just feel like, the more rock you have, the less space for the "fun" stuff you want. I have seen so many tanks with so much LR, that they only have 4" in front of it to place corals on the bed. That coupled with, you never see the livestock cause they hide behind it.. Now In my particular case, I'm setting up a corner 92, so space is at a premium..
  17. Thanks for all the help, I have upgraded (thanks to dhomblad) and am now holding a steady 79 degrees..
  18. +1
  19. Okay here it goes.. I have an ongoing debate in my kingdom right now. I think that 1lb per gallon is sufficent, however the "Queen" seems to believe that 1.5 -2lbs is where we should be based on a higher fish occupancy. I think that Since we will have a fuge, DSB and my skimmer is "oversized" for the tank, there is no need for all the extra poundage of LR.. Any opinions are appreciated (Hopefully in my favor) but, lets be honest i will not win this either way.
  20. BTW, the rock I got from you is awesome.. Full of pods, little stars etc.. Thanks again. Quote MultiQuote
  21. Thanks, may have to take you up on that.
  22. Dang, I wish I hadn't gone as far as i have with the build, that sump would be nice.. But the one that came with the set up isn't too bad to get to.. Yea, Can't wait for the rest of my rock and sand to get here.. I forgot how much the patience part of this hobby sucks!
  23. Still looking good, I personally have never had much success with SPS, and unless I can gain some serious knowledge/ hints from my fellow reefers here, I will most likely not be putting any in my tank. With that said, yours are still waaay better shape than any I've owned.
  24. We had a 90 gallon standard footprint reef aquarium a few years ago and had to take it down when we moved across country. We decided to get back into the hobby and are in the process of building our new tank! We chose to go with a 92 gallon Oceanic corner tank, RR with single overflow and a 20 gallon sump. So far we have an AquaC skimmer with Mag 9 pump, Mag 9 return pump, Hamilton 175W MH w/ 75W Atinics, 2 Korilia 4s, 2 little fishes phosban reactor, heater, etc. At this point we have approximately 60# live rock and will be purchasing the remaining rock in the next week or so. We are thinking of going with Nature's Ocean #1 Aragonite sand because we like the bright white color. http://www.naturesoc...ite-sand-1.html We used this sand in our previous tank but used a mixture of the black and white sand which we didn't end up liking very much. We're going to go with dry sand and see if we can find a LFS willing to supply us with a small amount of live sand to seed it with. Here are a few pics we've taken of the progress so far:
