  1. Hey Bob! If you end up getting something bluer the Phenix 14k's look real nice on that fixture. I just switched to the Megachrome's but had the phenix's in before and loved them. By the way I just had to change out the sockets on my aquamedic fixture and it was a pain!
  2. Thanks Rob! I'll keep an eye on everything to see if they remain happy and figure out whether to take it out or not. By the way how is the new place going? I finally ended up moving to the townhouse in Herndon right around the corner from you.
  3. I currently have a 72 bow with mostly SPS and have a Vortec MP40 on one side and a Tunze 6080 on the other side blasting away. Is that too much flow? Should I take the Tunze out of there? Thanks, Khalid
  4. I am interested in the LEOPARD WRASSE / MACROPHARYNGODON ORNATUS $32.95, by chance do you have any pics? Also, is it eating well?
  5. When I had a frad tank running and was using eggcrate I was fetting a lot of hair algae as well and did some searching on the net and found a lot were saying that it leaches phosphate.
  6. There is and it looked fine when I inspected it earlier but I'll try to check it again later on tonight and make sure I didn't miss anything. Thanks Rob!
  7. I don't know what's going on with my G2 but all the sudden it is not producing nearly as much foam and is shooting out micro bubbles like crazy from around where the pump is. This started yesterday and got a lot worse when I took the pump out, took it apart, and cleaned it today. :( I can't figure out what its problem is! Has anyone ever had this problem? If so, what is the solution? Thanks, Khalid
  8. I drilled the bottom of my 40 breeder for a 2 inch bulk head and so far no problems but I haven't filled it up yet but definitely don't currently see any problems. Fingers crossed I guess.
  9. I used a table saw to do mine.
  10. I feel your pain Russell. :( I just moved to my new place this weekend and I guess my tank didn't like being relocated to well and crashed. I lost all my fish, SPS in display and frag tank, 2 clams already, and many tears!!!! I can't believe how all that time and work just went downhill that fast. Now I am setting a new tank and will have to start all over and spend more money getting the frags I already had. Hope it works out with you!
  11. I was looking at the MSX skimmers and was wondering which performs better on them, the Mesh or the pin wheel impellers?
  12. I drilled my Aqueon (AGA) 40 breeder on the bottom it wasn't a problem. The glass is not tempered and you can go to their website and they list all their tanks and whether or not they have tempered glass.
  13. I had 3 and now I am down to one due to carpet surfing. :(
  14. I have 2 PC fixtures from them, one 72 inch PC over my Cichlid tank and a 48 inch that is just sitting around now not in use. I had it on my 33 for a while before upgrading. The are fine for softies but the bulbs are crap after changing the bulbs to the current bulbs everything responded a lot better and looked a lot better. Now it is just sitting in my pile of fish stuff.
  15. I have bought many corals as well from Mr. Coral and have had a great success rate and never have had any melted zoa's or paly's. All my frags have grown and are looking great. I would check you water and also make sure there are no pests.
  16. I am currently running 4 Phoenix 14K's, 3 on aquamedic 250 magnetic ballast and 1 on Ice Cap 250 Electronic ballast and love the look of the bulb on all of them. They are a lot more blue than most 14K's.
  17. I also have had success with peppermint shrimp, I bought 2 for my 12 gallon apuapod that was basically a full all out Aptasia tank and they cleared 99.9% of them. Unfortunately in my 33 I currently have a red coris wrasse so the peppermint that are in there never come out unless it is night time so they don't have the opportunity to do as well of a job but they have managed to keep it under control.
  18. Thanks guys! I think I might order it and will let everyone know how it does.
  19. Do you think it is worth it or is it a real pain to calibrate it everytime? Also, Any cool new clams in? Maybe some nice green Maximas? Sorry I wasn't able to take pictures of the beautiful clams I got from you last time but my stupid camera broke and I need to buy a new one sooner or later. :(
  20. Has anyone had any experience with the American Marine Pinpoint II Calcium Monitor? I am getting sick of not being able to get a correct reading from my Salifert and API calcium test kits. I don't know what I am doing wrong but I cant seem to get a correct reading of my calcium. I tried testing a day after I did a water change and dosed and the results were way too low as I am getting pretty good SPS growth and all my clams are doing great so it just doesn't make sense. I am also trying to set up a calcium reactor and need to have accurate readings so I don't end up killing everything. Here is a link to the monitor I am talking about: http://www.thatpetplace.com/pet/prod/20792...mP/nweT4c~fYA05 Thanks, Khalid
  21. Wow that's a huge recipe list too bad I am way too lazy to go through all that. :( I usually just Mix frozen mysis, frozen brine enriched with spiralina, and frozen phyto in a Tupperware container with some saltwater or RO water. Then I'll add Selcom and Garlic extract by Kent to it and let it melt in the fridge. Once the cubes look like they melted I shake the crap out of the container so everything breaks up and mixes then I let it soak in the fridge for a day so the Selcom and Garlic has time to get absorbed. Also, when I feed live brine I put them in a container with the liquid they came with and add Selcom and Garlic to it and let them hang out in the fridge over night and soak up some of the additives then I feed them to the fishies.
  22. Great! Thanks Rob and Brian I really appreciate it. Actually Bars by Bud is real close to my house and it is nice to know that they refill CO2 tanks as I pass by them on a daily bases.
  23. Anyone know were I can get my CO2 tank for my calcium reactor filled around the Vienna or Fairfax area? I tried sports authority but the only have a nozzle that fits the small paintball canisters. :(
  24. I have black sand in my 20 gallon BTA, RBTA, and mixed coral tank. It's the Bio-Activ Live
  25. I don't mind getting you pictures but I don't know how to post picture. PM me your email and I'll take pictures and email them to you. What I did was set up the drilled 20 Gallon tank besides my 33 and had it drain right into my sump via PVC and hoses. I put the return pump for the frag tank in the sump as well and have a hose taking the water back to the frag tank. PM me your email and I'll send you pics of everything.
