  1. Cool thanks that is about were I have it set as well and that thing is kicking but! The only bad thing Is not I have to clean a stinky collection cup twice a week instead of the once a week, sometimes longer, I use to with the G2. The photo is of the G2 collection cup after running for 8 days during a heavy load that week. The i-tech is pulling 4 to 5 times the g2 ever did in a week and I don't even have a heavy bio load. I don't know if that is what it is going to pull all the time or just until it gets what the G2 missed. Definitely very happy with the upgrade!!!
  2. Sorry to hear about your loss bro. :( Sucks when things like this happen!
  3. http://www.reefhotspot.com/store/index.php?cPath=51_63 They always have some cool ones but I never ordered from them so I can't tell you much about their service.
  4. Ya John at Fish and other Ichthy stuff is a great guy and very helpful. I bought the skimmer used from someone on RC but he was using it with the aquabee pump. I called John and ordered the Tunze pump and he also sent me the parts they have updated on the skimmer for me to replace so the skimmer is up to date and the same as the ones currently being sold. I would definitely recommend this skimmer from what I have seen so far. Hey reefkeeperrpb how far up do you have the water level in the skimmer body?
  5. Maybe ask them to send you pictures of your tank to make sure it is complete and looks the way you want it. Hope it works out for you it definitely sucks when things like this happen. I am dealing with that currently with furniture I ordered that came in 2 different colors. :(
  6. Thanks Brain, I guess this means I have to get my Alk test kit out and get to work.
  7. I guess I should get the kalk stirrer up and running since I do also have a aqua lift pump sitting around I just have to see if it is still working ok. As for the testing I think I need to get better at doing so as I never test unless something is not looking right.
  8. Hey Tom I currently have a kalk stirrer that I have not installed either I am trying to get a dosing pump for it and was planning to install it at soon. I currently add kalk to my top off water and stopped dosing anything. I just do weekly 5 gallon water changes and use aqua medic salt and my frags have been growing. Also, I am getting good coralin algae growth which I have to keep scrapping off of the glass.
  9. I finally installed my i-tech 100 cone skimmer with the Tunze Hydrofoamer 9410.04 Monday night which replaced my G2 skimmer. I am still dialing it in but already had to clean it out this morning and all I have to say is my skimmer cleaning job just got nastier. This is the G2 cup after a whole week of skimming and I had been out the previous week and my brother ended up over feeding the fish so it had a lot of poo to work with. I ended up doing 2 water changes that week to make sure everything is back to normal. http://picasaweb.google.com/KAlghussain/IT...816968038665874 http://picasaweb.google.com/KAlghussain/IT...816974264473394 The 2 collection cups side by side http://picasaweb.google.com/KAlghussain/IT...816999112772130 The i-Tech 100 http://picasaweb.google.com/KAlghussain/IT...817007420203858 http://picasaweb.google.com/KAlghussain/IT...817009969348258 http://picasaweb.google.com/KAlghussain/IT...817198152712946 i-Tech this morning before cleaning out. I installed the skimmer Monday night and am still trying to get it dialed in the way I want it. http://picasaweb.google.com/KAlghussain/IT...817210195782818 http://picasaweb.google.com/KAlghussain/IT...817226248759106 http://picasaweb.google.com/KAlghussain/IT...817235850404514 This thing really pulls so far and is dead silent! I will get more pics Sunday night when I do a water change and clean the collection cup to see how much it pulls next week. Sorry about the links to the pics but I am a idiot and can't figure out how to post the pictures so they show up on the thread. I hit the "insert image" button and put in the link to the photo but it still didn't work. :(
  10. Ok here is the story, a while back I bought a calc reactor and everything needed to run it. I was planning to install it once I moved and upgraded to a larger system. Well I moved but during the move I had a crash and lost all my SPS colonies and frags along with the majority of my clams. I have the new system up and running now, a 72 bow, and currently have a good amount of SPS frags, few LPS's, and 5 clams. Should I install the calc reactor now or wait till things grow in more and start demanding more calc?
  11. I just use a good amount of coral glue then when I placed the leather on the glue I put additional glue around the base. I waited a few seconds then dipped it in water then put it back into the tank a few seconds later. I kept it in a low flow area for a couple of weeks so the base doesn't come off and the leather has time to also attach to the rock. It is holding up strong now in a moderate to high flow area.
  12. I agree with Steve the VHO will be a better option even with just softies.
  13. All three of my Chromis went carpet surfing :(
  14. I have a AMS G2 that I have been running for a while and is now on my 72 and it does a pretty good job. I just got an I-tech 100 cone skimmer today, got a great deal on it, and am waiting to order the tunze pump for it soon to see how much of a performance difference there is. I'll definitely post up the results when I get the pump but the AMS G2 has been great for the money.
  15. I am not a dynamics expert by no means but other than getting more foam because of the colder water I don't think you should have a problem at all. So a plus in my opinion. Let up know how it goes if you end up connecting it.
  16. On my 72 bow I have it on the right side (if you are looking straight at the tank) about 3/4 of the way up set on reefcrest and is doing a great job circulating the whole tank. I had to turn off my tunze because it just seemed to be too much flow.
  17. You might also want to check what kind of flow the chiller requires because the skimmer feel line might not be enough. I have mine connected directly to the return pump.
  18. Man those are Beautiful!!! I need to make a trip to BRK ASAP!!! Thanks for sharing.
  19. Hey Amay where are those prices from? Those are good deals because I was quoted $2300 for the the 300 gallon marinland tank. Please let me know as I am interested in one of these tanks and would like to get one for a good price. Sikryd- I would say go with the 300 marineland as they are beautiful tanks.
  20. Thanks all, I guess it's just my luck or the vortec took him out. :( He was eating like a pig and would try to get the food before it even got out of the net so I thought he was going to be one that survived. I guess I will have to try again and hopefully it will work out.
  21. Why can't I keep any of these suckers alive!!! I got one and it was in my tank for a month or so then out of no where it died.:( He was eating like a champ from day one and was still eating the day before I found him dead and stuck to my vortech. I reef the tank a mixture of frozen spiralina enriched brine, mysis shrimp, and another frozen mixture. I mix everything together and keep it soaked it Selcon and kent extreme garlic. All the tank mates are peaceful and consist of 3 wrasses, a hogfish, and a mis bared clown. What am I doing wrong??? This is one of my favorite fish and would like to be able to keep one alive. The tank is a 72 bow. Thanks, Khalid
