  1. AFAIK they don't. The Desjardines Tang is the only one that I have heard of that might, but it is not their preferred algae, and they get big.
  2. Whatever you decide to do, I would get a handle on it quick before it gets out of hand. It can be a pain. I run GFO and Carbon in a reactor, have lots of flow, control my nutrients via a good skimmer, and will be hooking up a small UV one of these days.
  3. I guess I should have updated this thread by now since I have it up and runningnow. I put 2 ball valves on the returns and adjusted them, but haven't fully looked into quieting it down more yet. Too busy killing fish! :(
  4. After the added price of 2 icecaps you are in the ballpark of a good light. I ended up selling mine and going with the T-5 setup I already had.
  5. +2 lol My buddies caused havoc in his frag tank too.
  6. I will only be using glass ones from now on. Both my coralife and aquamedic (that I just bought at BRK) are broke!!! For peace of mind I will always have 2 in the sump from now on!
  7. Thats funny you say that John. We looked at the pictures online and then at our fish in the tank and said wow we got some REALLY GOOD LOOKING ones! lol Guess I should have checked the tail. It didn't matter either way though, we were looking for either one. I figure if we keep 3, most likely one will be a female and turn into a supermale. We'll see. Either way, we love em' with the color they have now. Jos said that they only get better, so I am sure we will be happily surprised either way. They are tough to get ahold of. Especially with permits just coming back out now. Hopefully we will be able to trade a pair of these for some Flames, we heard they look pretty sweet too.
  8. I am sure we will end up selling off the ones we don't keep. Who knows how long it will take her to make up her mind though!!!! It better be in 6 weeks when QT is over so I don't have to look at the tanks and change water in 3 of them!!! I'll keep you in mind.
  9. The wife wanted me to get them all so she could pick which ones she wanted. She's the bread winner, she can have what she wants-lol. I'm only planning on keeping 3. I picked them up at Roozens today. AFAIK they won't really get too territorial until they get bigger, and if I kept them all. We'll see. I have them in 2 QT's and they all seem to be doing good. They all ate already too, so that was really cool. And the pictures obviously suck going through a plastic bag and the tank. They are pretty slick looking. I haven't seen a Rhomboid in person yet, but these are our favorites by far from all the fish we have seen.
  10. You might be right. I was told they were rhomboids, but forgot to check their tails. They are only about 3in right now. Just checked - Indeed you are right. They are Lineatus. Yeah I have the tanks covered real well. They are awesome looking and pretty laid back so far.
  11. Here is a couple pics of our new buddies that I picked up today. The boss told me she wanted all 8 so she can pick which ones she wants. She's unreal sometimes! These are just pics of them in the bags sitting in my tank to temp acclimate them. Hopefully I can get some better pics of them in the quarantine tanks later.
  12. Its warnings like yours that get me off my butt and do stuff! lol Glad it turned out alright. I am putting in a new circuit now myself.
  13. Mine always ended up on the top of my old light. For some reason I always left them there since I was busy doing tank maintainance when I saw them and forgot to take them to the trash till the next day! I don't like killing anything either, but a cockroach is a cockroach and they reproduce in the millions whether we take out a couple or not.
  14. GFO/Carbon if you aren't doing it, I personally think is the answer. It worked for me. Some phos is better as well. I did a lot of reading before I used anything. I also did it in stages so I wouldn't bleach anything. I have also read that using an oversized skimmer is almost a must. It sounds to me like you have too much stuff in the water column that the skimmer isn't pulling out so it is resting on your sand bed. I don't think flow will take care of that, personally. If you have the PM venturi = those are more budget minded, and definetely not oversized for your 75g if its rated for a 50g. I would look into that 1st and do some reading up on it. That is the first thing I read when I browsed the articles on dosing. I also like using UV, but that is just me. We don't dose, but I have read some.
  15. I don't like anything I can't control in the tank. They are one of them. I pull them out if I see them. The wife liked them till I showed her what a tank can look like when they get out of control!
  16. I am at about 98% on my SPS, but 98% is from everyone here and at CMAS. The only trouble I have had is with 2 bottle brushes, and my buddy had the same trouble. Though 3 tank transfers I haven't lost a fish or any corals. So I am thrilled with that. Nice meeting you guys at the last wamas meeting and at Chris's today.
  17. AFAIK you have to sand stain out as it actually soaks into wood. Versus paint which goes over wood.
  18. I bought an MSX200 and love it. So do a few other guys on the other board. Its pretty sweet, especially for the cash, and HUGE.
  19. I did the thin stuff and it worked okay. I would go with a little thicker though. Cut to exact fit, then put in at an angle, lay a bead on the bottom, push into it, then hit both sides with a bead.
  20. Whoops, posted on the other thread. We had a great time as well. And LOVE all the frags. GLAD I sold my skimmer Thanks everyone. Won a $100 at mr. coral so that is pretty cool! Going to head up there tomorrow I think.
  21. Thanks guys for all the Frags. Another GREAT meeting. I just wish we could have got there sooner to hear the speaker! Wife didn't get done at the Fire Station till 2pm so 3:30 was pretty good for as far out as well are. She is KILLING me with the fish she wants (and won't give up others in the mix!!! If it was up to her we would have 5 clowns in the tank today!!! _ She hasn't even seen any cool wrASSe's yet) - And I am KILLING her with my excitement over corals. We both love it, but it is because of everyone here that we are able to enjoy it that much more!
  22. I am a computer guy of sorts, so the programming isn't an issue. I just thought the Elite's physical interface looked pretty slick and the wife might learn to use it. The ACIII is more of a "mainframe" to her, it doesn't look as slick so it scares her off I think. Thanks for the help. I am going to do some more research and see what I come up with.
  23. I just upgraded to a new tank after I thought I was going to have to get out of the hobby and sold my ACIII. I have been looking at the ReefKeeper Elite and it seems to be a nicer unit and does all the same things as the ACIII as far as I can tell for the same price. Does anyone have any information on Reefkeepers and if it is just as nice as the ACIII or better? I hear a lot about ACIII's, but not too much on the Reefkeeper stuff. Thanks
  24. Reefhunter, Do you have any pics of this? Dark Puple Tricolor Frag $10.00 (3 available) And you don't happen to have another frag of that blue/pink acro with green polyps? A chip is fine, it will grow out!
  25. Thanks for the kudos. Its been fun so far. A lot of good ideas from Bob (Fuzznutz on CMAS) and other people's tank incorporated. I thought the all black theme would make it look a little cleaner underneath, I hadn't seen it done before and figured I might as well try it out. Yes, everything from the old tank is going into the new one, including the rock that I bought off Craiglist that I am cooking right now. It doesn't smell and the water isn't too dirty, so hopefully it will be okay. Plus I am going to drill all the rock for plugs to make it easier to put frags in. Here are some updated pics from this weekend. I am going to do the tank transfer on Monday since Bob will be off to help. So I am doing the final touches this weekend. All plumbing is black (painted) and black hose. Here is the photobucket link http://s318.photobucket.com/albums/mm434/Sikryd/125g%20RR/ The pictures came out crappy this time for some reason.
