  1. I use tongs, suction cup tongs from harbor freight, and the coralife ones. All have their uses...
  2. Diamond dremel blade is best since it is thin. Also don't let it get hot if possible. Slow wins everytime. Razorblade on any flesh if you can't call all the way through. Start on the underside of the chalice so the junk collects on it and not the top side flesh. I just did one of mine after cruisin' over to Chris's to watch him do it a few weeks ago. How many eyes does the small one have? If its only a couple I wouldn't risk it personally. Should take about a week to heal, some more, some less depending on each piece.
  3. There went my display frag tank! nice pickup...
  4. I agree that names help with identification when talking to people about corals. But unless it is unique, it should be called what it is - a blue milli like you said. I love how some of the "weeds" have names now! lol Soon there is going to be limited edition Kenya trees...
  5. Nice stuff there bro! If you get rid of the D80 let me know...
  6. Thanks for all the support too! It is nice to know others out there feel your pain when going through a disaster like this! I remember my buddy going through it and thinking wow that must be a helpless feeling........it is..............
  7. All my fish were in QT due to ick. They have been in there for two weeks. This is my display tank that took a hit. I'll see what is going to come of it in the next few days. I have 3 tanks up running, 2 for fish, 1 rubbermaid with coral.
  8. No fish or inverts were in the tank Still possible from the corals?
  9. Just tested again in case I missed something in the frenzy last night - Ammonia spike - ~ 2 right now. Tons of carbon, water change coming again... Any other suggestions... At least it is something I can turn back around and I know the problem now. I HATEEEEEEEEEEEEE not knowing what is going on
  10. Thanks guys. Still not sure what happened. Po4, NO3, no4, calc, dkh, mag, ph, nh3, and sal are all good Chlorine is possible since I used hose water to wash the sand out. Not sure what has made it since the stuff I tried to save is stacked like tetris pieces in one of my QT tanks. Off to get a poly filter here soon. Still making up h20 right now. I am hoping it is a spike I missed. Very possible... That would be a blessing at this point.
  11. not 100% sure yet. Contaminated sand most likely. It is the only thing I added besides re-aquascaping. All tests were good. Only one I don't have is copper. Could have been a screw that fell into it since it was in my garage. But I keep it pretty clean in there so who knows... See the rest of the damage in the a.m.
  12. I can't believe it.....this sucks..... I've lost about 25 frags/colonies of sps so far, 5 chalices, with a bunch on the way from the looks of it. I did a 30g h20 change, changed out the carbon, and moved everything I could to a 12g QT tank that I have some of my fish in right now. Looks like I am going to loose everything.....
  13. http://www.viddler.com/explore/reefbuilders/videos/11/ Has a web server too...

  15. If they had that thing on FearFactor - noboby would win the money!
  16. PM sent on UV Tried to - box is full
  17. hob
  18. How much flow do you have going through it?
  19. I know tons of people, including myself that grew all kinds of sps, clams, ect. under t-5's No problem at all.
  20. Any fast change isn't good is all. jmho It should all even out over time
  21. I have one that was a hitchhiker, they just cruise around...
  22. Got the MSX 200 and wouldn't turn back. Easiest skimmer to say the least. Ctenophore is right about the maintainance issue. I bought a custom sump to make it easier to get the lid off and out of the stand. The 30g tall I had just made it a pain. I skim wet too, so I wasn't thrilled about getting it out everyday before. Now its no big deal. I have the one up for sale and its a recirc that can go outside the sump. That is what I was going to run for a frag tank. Its pretty sweet too. But I would still go with the MSX200 if you can fit it under your stand with ease of maintainance. I SEE that you got it! good deal Now I might be hitting you up for help with the ACIII sig. Haven't tried or started it yet........thats later this week....
  23. Thanks Pat - AND to think it all started with getting some Zoas and stuff from YOU, before you left!!! Its been a work in progress. Thanks to the tax man I was able to get the stuff I have been wanting for a while. Just had to convince the wife and do a lot of work! Now for the fine tuning, adding another reactor, tweaking here and there. Not to mention selling a bunch of live rock and re-aquascaping for growout. Little by little.... My pictures are awesome!!! It looks better in person of course.
  24. That is covered by this - It looks like I might have to fill the topoff about once every two weeks! if that. It took about 12hours, but its all done now. Now to just rewire the lights so I can run them each seperately off the ACIII for sunrise/sunset 123321
