Crash the server party poll!!!!!! round two
MLazar replied to L8 2 RISE's topic in General Discussion
Sam, Thanks. Please check the other (original) thread as it looks like hbh/Holly is having trouble with the poll). I'll go ahead a vote now. Maureen -
Our favorite way to use "waste water" is in the laundry room (shared with our tank room in the unfinished basement). I shared this on JMs dedicated tank thread, but think its worth putting out there again. The "Lazar-o-matic", as JM has nick-named it, is the process of collecting the waste water for use in your washing machine. It helps of course if your RODI unit is near your laundry. Jon set a system up for me that catches the "waste" water from the RODI in a large (25 gal) trash can. There is a float attached to to stop the water from over-filling the trash can and once full, any overflow is then shifted to flow down a floor drain. There's a pump in the bottom with 1/2" tubing attached that I use to move the water over to my washing machine. It travels a good 10 - 12 feet to reach the washer. We use a bungee cord to secure hose to washer lid, a lesson learned after the tubing popped out a couple of times. I was surprised to find that my traditional washer uses the entire trash can of water to fill just the first cycle of one load. I feel pretty good about being able to use the "waste" water. Helps with the water bill too. I'm hoping to collect and store even larger amounts of "waste" water with the addition of a 55 gal barrel from Cliff/Highland Reefer. Hope to post this idea on our dedicated tank forum.............if we ever get it going............still hoping. Maureen

Oh, and Jon found a lot of things he liked too for Father's Day (I forgot today was his day there for a moment and NOT about me.......) Sorry to hear about the loss of the team.

Sam, Seeing any day/time working its way to the number one spot? Maureen -
Took a Father's Day road trip out to Mr. Coral's today and came home with some very nice pieces. Thanks to Sonny and Brian for the awesome customer service (and we're really sorry we kept you past closing.............time just got away from us in the store). More acans than I've ever seen in one store, but it was the variety of favia's that kept calling me, and the chalice, and the zoas.................. Yeah, it was a good trip. Lots to look at, worth the trip, can't wait for the social. Thanks again, Maureen and Jon PS - and I really hope your little league team won and you're on your way to the Championships!!!!!

Thanks much Cliff. I'll see you at BRK.

Cliff, Am definitely interested in the barrel, thanks much. Let me know what I owe you. Maureen

Awesome Cliff. Does any know if there are any unclaimed/unused 55 gal barrels still available out there? Or anyone interested in sponsoring another group buy? With all the upcoming meetings and socials, this is the season for group buys/rades/sales of anything I suppose. Maureen sorry Cliff .......... didn't mean to hijack your thread.................

lyretails. Dave, are the lyretails difficult to keep? I was just reading up on them and now I'm not sure about them. Maureen

Here's Dan's website: http://www.firefliesdelray.com Looks like there's a "Party on the Patio" tonight that might be worth checking out. Congrats Dan, and Best of Luck! Maureen

Jamal....sssshhhhhhh...... don't tell Dave about the anthias. They're on my wish list for the BRK social. I a saw them on one our last visits to BRK, but we weren't ready for them. I think Bruce bought 1 male and 3 females, the colors were amazing. Let's keep it to ourselves, ok? Maureen

We've got our Duncans just under the middle of our tank (125 gal) in a med - low water flow area. They are amazing eaters and original 3-head purchase from AquaCo less than 2 months ago has 4 little sprouts now and they have doubled in size. I like them alot. Good luck with yours!

should he try and glue them back onto the disk? (I would clean debris off disk if yes).

If you're not a WAMAS member yet, this message if for you. Sometimes you just don't know what you're missing. And you're missing out on a lot ......... because you can't see sections of the WAMAS website that are only available to paid members. How about 11 of them! A favorite with all WAMAS Members is the "Sell/Trade/WTB/Auction" Forums. There is also the "Members Only" section, which may look like it only has 2 tabs, but there are actually 8! So for about 5 cents a day ($20 annually) you'll be able to view: SELL/TRADE/WTB/AUCTION FORUMS 1) For Sale/WTB/Free Forum to post items for sale, WTB (wanted to buy items you're looking for) and free items (and yes, it does happen). 2) Trading Forum Have hobby items you can't use anymore that you'd like to trade? You can list those items on this site. 3) Auction Forum Announce your Auction items here. Please read the rules for auctions before you post an item up for auction. This site can generate a lot of excitement in the last moments and is fun to watch even if you aren't bidding! 4) Group Buys An awesome way to save a lot of money. Paid members post information on group buys that they are sponsoring and the discount is shared with other paid members. This can include live stock, hardware, salt, chemicals, reef tools and more. 5) SWAP (Share the Wealth and Propogate) An amazing forum where members share favorite corals with other members for safe keeping and propagation. This is really responsible reef-keeping. Members who have suffered livestock losses for various reasons have benefited greatly. And you'll also have access to these "MEMBERS ONLY" additional tabs: 1) The Refugium (Non-related Reef Discussion/Off-Topic) Members support each other on non-reef topics that range all over the place. Need a car, electrician, help buying a mattress? Want a place to cheer for your favorite sports team? How would you like to meet up with folks who (believe it or not) have other hobbies like golf, home brewing, photography, skydiving, motorcycling, mountain biking, and scuba diving? You can even take scuba lessons through a club member. How about help with taxes, a flooded basement? Too much to list here, but you get the idea. 2) PAR Meters This forum is for signing up to borrow or report on the status of the members only PAR Meters to test out your lighting. 3) Product Reviews You can save yourself a lot of money by reading this section on product reviews. Members use this section to review hardware that they like or dislike. A favorite post thread on this site is "Reef Items I Wasted Money On." 4) Vendor Experience In this section members share their good, and sometimes not so good, experiences with not only local vendors, but mail order suppliers as well. Both hardware and livestock are discussed. Since our "local" vendors are spread out over a relatively large area, this site can help you target the stores that have the best of what you're looking for and help you make the decision to take a road trip worth your time and gas. 5) Meeting News Forum for advanced meeting news and announcements. To be fair, items listed here are also listed in areas accessible to non-members. 6) Website Issues This is the place to bring your WAMAS website problems, comments and issues. You can post and edit your post but only the webmaster and officers can reply. Can't figure out how to post pictures or empty your in box, this is the site with the answers. So come on, take the plunge and get wet. It is a small investment and the returns on live-stock, hardware, knowledge and access to probably hundreds of years of combined experience makes this the bargain of the century!

Fish.................fish.............lots of fish.............. I'm coming with my wish list in hand. Maureen

Which hotel are you staying at (or are they suggesting to stay at)? We're late getting our act together to go and I'm pretty sure we've already missed all the price breaks offered for tickets and rooms. Are most folks driving or flying? Going in Thursdsay evening or Friday morning? We're trying to decide whether to bring our 16 year old or not, looks like most of the kids activities are fantastic, but only up to 12 years old. There's one teen event at 0730, and unless it is to see a rock star, she's probably not going to get up for it. Are there a lot of kids/families, or mostly solo hobbiests? TIA for any feedback. M

Terry, Sorry Jon and I can't help you out, we're already committed to helping our son move. (and I was so looking forward to getting a peak at your tank........) Maureen
