  1. George, This is an awesome post!! Webmaster, ought to change this post and put it in a section on Everything you wanted to know about the Family Mussidae! Great display George and would love to add on of these to my future tanks! Touche! Howard
  2. 90g: B/W Heniochus, Yellow Canary Wrasse, Percula Clown, (6) Green Chromis, Firefish 10g: Percula Clown, Blue Velvet Damsel, Gramma, Green Chromis
  3. Mike, I highly recommend the Yellow Canary Wrasse: Great fish, doesn't seem to bother anyone and will take most feed: http://www.saltwaterfish.com/site_11....5dff803 Gramma: Great personality and would put in later. Firefish: put them in now, time to adjust before other fish and would highly recommend 2, needing hiding places. Chromis and Cardinals, put schools of 3-4 in at same time to promote be seen, do these just after firefish. B/W Heniochus: To me, one of the best fish along with canary, excellent personality, beautiful and will eat anything that hits the water. Others I'm not 100% sure on. IMO: Add 2 firefish, then 3-4 chromis, then 3-4 cardinals, canary wrasse, six-line, B/W Heniochus, gramma, then more tougher species. Give about a week in between each entry. Then PATIENCE Howard
  4. Holly, Take a look at the Yellow Canary Wrasse. I've had 2 of them, currently, my one is about 4" long. Beautiful color, never had a problem with messing with shrimp, fish or corals. Not sure if they eat bristleworms though, but never seen on in my tanks either. Cool fish! http://www.saltwaterfish.com/site_11....5dff803 Howard
  5. Quazi, Here is my reply to your RC post: "Hey folks, I have several of the Viaqua's, ok units, no problems yet. a couple of 300w in my 90g tank and one 100w in my 10g. On the GFI Issue, DO YOURSELF A FAVOR And go to HD and pickup for ABOUT $12. the DIY Electrical Book. You only need to then p/u a couple of dollar GFI plug and replace ONE (1) receptacle on the start of any electrical line run that you do to have complete GFI coverage. Believe me, if you can figure out how to feed your fish, you can do this on your own. IT's NO BIG DEAL!" Howard
  6. Jacob, Kinds of reminds of the story about a gent in the bathroom doing his buisness at the urinal and see's a dime sitting down there. So when he is finished, he tosses in a quarter. Then reaches in and takes both! "For 10 cents, no way, for .35 cents: "just do it!" In other words, don't sweat it! If you can't get it out of your mind, take a hammer and do it right gvl]] Then replace the whole thing!! :D
  7. I'm under the impression that Zoo's and Mushrooms both like PC/VHO lighting better than MH.
  8. bsg GEEZ Gary! Stop what ever your doing and see a doctor about it ASAP!
  9. Scott, You came to the right place! I got a Conductivity Meter used by the NIH that is excellent for this! Best of all, you and anyone can use it for no charge. I'm unfortunately leaving tonight and won't be back home until the 13th. Check with me then. You run the purified water through tester and will tell you exactly when to change your filters and when not to. Howard
  10. My Percula Oscellaris has this condition going on a month or more now. Mostly on one side, but noticed a couple of spots on the left side now. Looks and acts ok, so hopefully I'm in the clear as well! Howard
  11. Thanks last night Krish for taking the time to allow me to p/u the bulb and see your equipment, awesome setup! Great job! Howard ]]]thx
  12. Mine has the same similiar pigments, looks like a bit of pepper on both sides. Don't remember seeing more than a month ago. So no big issue? Howard
  13. Krish, I'm now planning on trying to pickup my 4' VHO Actinic Bulb either tonight or tomorrow, any preference? Was up to about 2am again last night, got stuck in the house again working. Howard PS, Thanks Phil PSS, Great job again Krish!!! [hro
  14. Krish, Thanks for all your efforts, I just went through your entire topic and possibly missed it, what is your address to pickup the lighting? Tonight ok or weekend? Howard
  15. DANG, Drafted! Ok Doug, I got the 4-18g tubs we used with lids, still haven't done a thing with them. Probably a 5g bucket or two available. 30th will be tight, but will do my best for you!!! What timeframe? I got a landscaping job that I'm trying to setup this weekend before I leave for vacation the following weekend 5-13Nov in MO. Also have my daughters that weekend. So later in the day the better? Howard
  16. My Yellow Canary (Coris) Wrasse behaves the same way. He usually is the last up in the morning when lights come on. About 5-10minutes he will appear after hiding in the gravel all night. He usually dives under the gravel around 7-8pm, a couple of hours before lights out. Beautiful fish and a great addition to any tank in my opinion! Very reef safe so far.
  17. Michael, I concur on the Light Meter. IMO, I would recommend a small usesage fee of say $3-5. to help support the group. I wouldn't mind paying a rental fee for something that could be to our benefit. I purchased a Conductivity Meter (HIGH Grade) that I would like to offer to anyone who would like to use. Does a excellent job for someone wanting to know if it's time to change their RO/DI filters or not. LMK I'm sure there are other bells and whistles that people are using only a time or two a year that might be able to share? Howard
  18. Rik Leishmen has a post out now about his 240g tank and Doug Debartco just purchased one in the last week Howard
  19. Great Job Krish, Between this order and the Reeftopia order I did a few months ago, We purchased over $2000 worth of equipment and saved the group over $300.00 COOL! [hro Thanks again! Howard ]]]thx
  20. Dave, What kind of glue did you use to make this? Great job there DAD! Howard
  21. Dittos above response! I had similiar problems in past and now NO MORE Recap: #1 Starve it out to kill it....shut off lights for a couple of days. YES, Do it now! It took 2 days to reduce my Red Cyanobacteria outbreak, ok, I think I spelled that wrong. #2 If your not using RO/DI water, don't ask again! NO uncured tap water....sorry to be blunt, but that will cure 99% of problems. #3 Cure: Phosban helps with reducing the Phosphates Skimmer adequate for system, you don't mention how big your system is? Keep temperature constant, unless you must, most get along fine without an expensive chiller ALSO, is this an established tank or new? Cycling? #4 Cleaner Crew: Red Legs, Blue Legs, Red Tipped Legs Crabs Cerith, Magarita Snails, Tangs, etc Good luck! Howard
  22. I believe if Fischers doesn't have them, try the Vienna Aquarium shop, they carry a few of them the other day.
  23. Thanks everyone for all the efforts and was great seeing everyone again! Doug, I believe I'm paid up now, but correct me if I'm wrong? I've paid $60 so far, not including the $5-$10 extra on me. Was there something that I missed? Howard
  24. Hey Krish, I'm in for Qty 1 Item Code: 10-54022 48" (VHO, T12) Actinic 03, 110W -Coralife $21.95. With discount about $20.00. I won Ebay yesterday for the Coralife 20" AQUALIGHT 96W QUAD COMPACT FLUORESCENT with legs and extra bulb for $89 incl shipping. So I won't need that. Total about $20.00 for my order, LMK when I need to get you the money. Thanks again! Howard
  25. Krish, Don't need to "Haggle", just tell what you would like in the opening letter and accept that as a fair price with their response. They will either get our complete order or just partial! Just give them the option. What ever they come back with should be fine. Howard
