  7. Thanks Gary & John It is tempting to try the Lettuce Nudi, do they eat bryopsis as well as other forms of algea or are they target specific feeders, if so no probs as my supposed frag tank looks like an underwater jungle at the moment, the light coming from my display tank is hitting my frag tank at the back of the room and the growth is well, very good. I haven't researched the lettice nudi's yet, work pc's run slower than windup toys so will check them out when i get home at 0630. The problem isfrom what i have read so far in Julian sprungs book on algae and from surfing the web is not to many critters will eat this stuff, i may have to do what someone on RDO suggested and use a small tactical nuke :2thumbsup: I may just have to bite the bullet and try and frag off the corals as best i can and get medievil on the LR Keep the info coming please I will take some water to a LFS and get the water tested to make sure my kits up to snuff Thanks again Anton
  8. I have Bryopsis in my tank again, i thought i was shot of this stuff after all the affected rocks from last time were left outside dry over the winter in order to kill this nightmare of an algea, the only natural remedy i've tried that has come close to working was a Foxface Rabbit fish, he munched in a considerable amount of the stuff then lost interest in that and turned to a crocea and a Red Monti Cap, i also tried a Tuxedo Urchin, and Emerald Mythrax crabs just laugh at it and me. So i was wondering as my levels are in reasonable order, NO3 = 0 NO2 = 0 NH3 = 0 PO4 = 0 Ca & Alk are doing very well with my new Deltec Ca Reactor, Thankyou very much Johnny Should i try covering the affected area still in the tank with kitchen foil as i dont have anything else to use Anyone have any ideas, i cut back on lighting, feeding (my PBT is giving me evil looks) and have been running Rowaphos from my first day of cycle, with intermittent bouts of carbon. The easiest route, although not the best would be to remove the last affected rock and boil it (extreme i know) but i have Pavona encrusting it along with yellow polyps and an encrusting monti. Any help ideas welcomed Anton
  9. 4-ways rock The plumbing can be a bit tricky, although i think it is just me I suppose it all depends on how much work you want to under take, i'm glad i went with 4-way over streams, not only because of cost, they are well made, less cabling in/around tank, ruins the clean look of the tank and the after sales service is excellent as is before sales. The 4-way is about $340 after shipping i think, sorry bad memory, and i may be wrong, and probably am (my PC connection at work is slower than dial up so got bored of searching) but my first try at a 6200 came up on Premium Aquatics at $451 Although everyone i know that has them says they kick arse, but for that price they should Check out the Oceans Motions Forum & Water Pix for ideas and suggestions. 10. But then you wouldn't have the "Git R Done" feel if it was closer to DC BRK Rocks and it's not true what people say about Byron..................really it's not Thanks for everything fellas Anton
  11. Hi Chip It's a relatively new fish, a Carberry Anthias from Marine Center and seems to have completely different personality traits to the Harem of Lyretails i used to have. It doesn't seem to be a problem, it's a very beautiful fish ate frozen brine and mysis right from the get go suffice to say i'm on the email list for more Sorry for hijacking Inna Anton
  12. I have the Oceans Motions 4-way, it's a sweet piece of equipment, there are supposedly some issues with it making thumping and thudding sounds, but as far as i have read these are down to plumbing irregularities i.e. too many 90's or constriction in piping. Mine has been fantastic from the start, i have it hooked up to a reeflo Dart and my corals and fish love it, especially my Carberry Anthias spends what seems like hours swimming head long into the currents. it's pricey but worth it, it's near silent, i could barely hear it running on its own and can't hear it at all above the reeflo. Check out the Ocean Motions forums for setup ideas and pictures of peoples systems, if you have any queries just post one and Paul or Cass will get back to you with suggestions and help HTH Anton
  13. I like the look of MH over T5 i looked at T5 lighting for my new tank, having een other tanks running T5's and comparing them against my old MH setup forum write-ups and other peoples i stayed with MH and VHO actinics. I'm not really one for the technical stuff, par levels and the like T5 will be easier on your elec bill, with 4X400watt 10k's you don't want to see my bill I'm afraid people with T5's will have to chime in here, you do get the shimmer on your tank bottom with MH over T5, MH produce more heat, good in winter, not so in summer, it is tempting to say there is not a lot you can't keep under MH, but from what i've read an heard it is also true of T5's. I stayed with MH and despite the bigger elec bill, i'm very happy and my growth rates and colouration in a young tank have convinced me i made the right choice. HTH Anton

  15. Hi Jake I believe i saw some at F&F on Saturday, although the corals were going pretty quick from their tanks though so they may have gone by now. They were for want of a better word rather dull and small, i have picked up some nice ones from online suppliers, unfortunately they croaked in my tank crash last year HTH Anton
  16. Happy Birthday Johnny B) When is the free frag party Byron was on about :sunny: Have a good one mate Anton
  17. Not sure about the ASM's but my Euroreef broke in in under 24 hours, i know that doesn't really answer your question. I gave it a good clean with RO/DI first then some old tank water i had, not sure if that made any difference but what the hey No it's pulling tons of nasty stuff out of the water, best skimmer i've ever had. HTH Anton
  18. Your welcome Jake, it's why we are here John, glad i make someone laugh :D
