  3. I would put in a request for this fish, but my QTs are full at the moment.
  4. Skimmer Fallback ON Set ON If Outlet Return = OFF Then OFF <when return pump is off, the skimmer shuts down> Defer 002:30 Then ON <skimmer is delayed 2:30 minutes before restarting> If FeedA 000 Then OFF <skimmer shuts down immediately for defined feedA time> If FeedB 000 Then OFF <skimmer shuts down immediately for defined feedb time>
  5. Due to its inherent risks, I do not recommend ozone for inexperienced hobbyists.
  6. You could implement a mechanical filter, such as a filter sock to polish the water. Do you have a thin film on the top of the water surface that does not get skimmed? Is the system turnover (tank to sump) at least 400 gph?
  7. Have you tried running the skimmer a litter wetter?
  8. Under normal conditions, Acropora axial corallite is shaped like an eraser on the end of a pencil, relatively square. Some hobbyist experience burnt tips or deformed axial corallites when alk is high in relation to nutrient levels. The deformed corallite may look like it collapsed on itself or become round instead of the square eraser shape. The rounding effect is due to tank water flow. I believe the coral builds its skeleton at a pace that the symbiotic algae can not keep up, preventing the tip from strengthening. Low nutrients and high Alk = building bricks without straw
  9. Did you see the fish at MACNA lit with black lights?
  10. Acrylic tanks are like black or white sports cars, they look wonderful when clean, but dirty, not so much. There are trade-offs with glass and acrylic tanks. I would hate for you spend approximately $2K for an acrylic tank and three years later have regrets. Recommend talking to acrylic tank owners with three or more years of service.

Clownfish are able to live within the stinging tentacles of anemones because a) the anemone recognizes them as friends. b) clownfish can never be stung by anemones. c) the mucus on the skin of clownfish prevents the anemone from stinging the fish. d) as long it is not hungry, the anemone will not sting the clownfish, this is why clownfish feed the anemone. 13. What is the function of the lateral line of a fish? a) to smell the water to detect the presence of other fish b) to produce mucus that guards the skin of fish c) to provide a ferntastsinn sense d) to do all of the above 14. 13. 9. What makes seawater salty? a) Only one major salt, sodium chloride (NaCL) gives the sea its salt. b) Hundreds of compounds, many of them salts contribute to the density of seawater. c) Seven major salts are always present in the same ratios in oceanic and coastal seawater. d) none of the above. 10. If you have many Aiptasia anemones which is the best way to remove them? a) smashing them with a hard object b) using the sea slug Berghia to eat them c) adding the copperband butterfly fish to eat them d) stroking them with an elegance coral
  14. 7. Specific gravity is a measure of the amount of salt dissolved in sea water. a) True, the more dissolved salt the higher the specific gravity. b) False, specific gravity only measures density. c) True, but only if corrected for water temperature. d) False, specific gravity is a measure of the volume of pure water in the solution. 8. In which of the following groups are all three part of the sea plankton? a) diatoms, copepods, kelp b) dinoflagellates, Caulerpa, rotifers c) diatoms, copepods, bacteria d) plastic bags, fish eggs, swimming crabs
