Hatchling (3/13)

  1. I just took my water test today. Below are the results. Temp: 79.9 Salinity: 1.025 Ammonia: 0 Nitrite: 0 Nitrate: 0 pH: 8.5 Alkalinity: 135mg/L Calcium: 340 Phosphate: 0 I am planning to replace the tube today to get the protein skimmer back up and running. I am planning to do a water change on Monday.
  2. The Tomato Clownfish is the only one at this time in the tank. The lights are running 12hr/day. My protein skimmer (Aqua C Remora) has not been running for two weeks due to the connection tube from the pump to the skimmer breaking off. I have no clean up crew currently in the tank and the last time I did a water test the Nitrates were 0 but my calcium was still off at 350. I am doing a water test either tonight or tomorrow morning and will post the results on here. I am awaiting a power head and heater to arrive and that will give me total control on water changes. I will have two 30 gallon rubbermaid containers (one salt water and one RO/DI water) with a power head and heater in both. This is where I am at the moment.
  3. After all I went through with the Ich outbreak and treating the suvivors in my hospital tank I am back to the only fish that survived the ordeal, Patches-my Tomato Clownfish. I think he is happy to have the tank to himself again. The only issue I am having right now is a major growth of long thin green algae that has spread all over the tank. Patches thinks its a sea anemone becuase he likes to be right in the algea and goes back and forth peering out of the algea growth. I am planning to test the tank parameters this weekend. Would turbo snails be the best bet for this tye of algae or hermits? I have also been debating to just remove all the algae growth by hand. Aaron
  4. I was on the Marine Depot site and the price for the Reeflo pumps is more than what I want to spend on a pump. I did notice another pump that sparks my interests. Do you have any experience with the Little Giant Inline Water Pumps? That is more in my price range and just wanted to get some feedback.
  5. I still have my four fish that survived the Ich outbreak in my 30g tank. Back in October I got the Lifegard Filtration System as an add on to my other filter system. When the product arrived the shaft in the pump was cracked and I waited a week for its replacement. I just finished filling up my 75g tank and added the new shaft in the pump and it still does not work and found out that the two plastic bonds to the magnet had broke, and the company will not take the pump back since more than six weeks has passed since I got the equipment. I am trying to find a replacement external water pump equivalent to the Quiet One 4000 High Head Water Pump. Any help would be appreciated since I am not familiar with water pumps as a whole. The pump I have maxes out at 990gph. Aaron
  6. Well I have learned my lesson from buying a fish from a dealer I thought was reputable. I had an outbreak of Ich in my tank and was only able to rescue four out of ten fish(1 tomato clownfish, 2 firefish, and 1 pygmy angelfish). They are now in my 30g hospital tank recovering. I am off this afternoon to buy two 40g rubber maid trash bins(1. To hold RO/DI water, 2. Mix Salt Water). One I have them set up I will continue the medication and slowly begin to fill the 75g tank with salt water. I lost (1 yellow wrasse, 3 green chromis, 1 goby, and 1 dottyback).
  7. Just got home to find only four out of ten fish alive. I am waiting on the canister filter, would it be best to get an power filter tonight that way I can move the rest of the surviving fish over so they have a chance to survive? The other filter will arrive tomorrow.
  8. Last night I created a rush delivery for my hospital tank. I also got a treatment called Rid-Ich. Are you familiar with this? I just recently purchased a UV Sterilizer but due to a pump malfunction it was not hooked up to the DT. Once I get the new pump I will get it running on my DT. Hospital Tank includes: Canister Filter, air stones, heater, electric thermometer, light. I think that covers it for now. Do I still lower the salinity or should I keep it at 1.025?
  9. I just noticed today that one of my fish is infected with ich and other fish are starting to rub their sides on my rock work. I am moving all of them into an empty 30 gallon tank where they will be treated. What is the waiting period before I can put my fish back into the display tank? You still do water changed on the DT during this period right?
  10. I will start with the first question and work my way through. 1) I do not have a sump tank, no glass cover, and 5 Koralia 2(600gph) and 3 Koralia 1 (400gph). I have two of the large Eheim Ecco Canister Filter and an Aqua C Remora Pro Protein Skimmer. 2)I am using the Hagen Test Kit for almost all of my testing. I am using the TetraTest Kik for Oxygen and Red Sea Test Kit for Magnesium. 3)The Alkalinity test is the KH results (I thought Alkalinity and KH were the same thing). 4) I do not have a refugium.
  11. I am currently having problems with my oxygen levels in my saltwater fish tank. The following are the results of my test that I completed this evening. Temp- 81F pH- 8.3 Ammonia- 0 Nitrite- 0 Nitrate- 0 Magnesium- 100 Salinity- 1.019 Alkalinity- 100 Calcium- 260 Iron- 0 Oxygen 2 mg/L Phosphate- 0 I am working on getting the: Ca, Magnesium, and Salinity levels up. What would I need to use to get my oxygen level up? Would I use an air pump with air stone and for how long to use it? I have lost one Green Chromis today. The other fish are doing well. Aaron
  12. I have all the pumps running at once. The Chromis enjoys swimming in the current all over the tank. The two Fire Fish usually swim along the bottom of the tank and the clownfish hangs around his home on the left side of the big rock. I am planning on getting two more livestock for my tank. I am looking at getting a Blenny and a cleaner shrimp. After that I am going to wait a while and then maybe I will start filling my tank with a few soft corals but thats in the future. After all this tank was started in February of this year. I am taking my time.

  14. Here are two pictures that I took this morning.
  15. I always thought that Bristle Worms would eventual kill fish in the aquarium. The one pictured above I killed but was not sure if its safe to keep the others that are still in the aquarium.
