Hmmm... my hippo has grown to about 8" or so - and while I have never seen him eating corals, he DOES decide where they belong in the tank. He can pick up half-pound rocks, and distribute them around the tank. No 'frags' in the 240, unless they are well attached. darned fish... they look pretty, but they sure can get in the way of growing coral! bob

I got tired of constantly adjusting my Deltec, and have ordered one for my 240G tank (300+ gallon system). The one I have is running on a 140G system. bob

By the way... my CS1 was one of the first ones made (possibly the first - memory fails), and has been running trouble-free for a couple of years now. bob

hahahaha... the Avast cone skimmer works great! BUT!!! It is very sensitive to changes in water level. Raise it up a couple inches. laughing at the photo - I could have a few of those. If I forget to turn off the skimmer when I turn off the return pump (and the water level in the sump rises) - about 2 minutes later I have the same "Oh, @#$%!!!" moment. bob

It's really beautiful when it grows out; but you need to keep it on a rock separate from the rest of your rockwork. bob

'Flower petal' is blue polyps with white stripes. I have a beautiful little colony of that one. Only reason I'm looking for a name is because I know it was purchased with a name, but can't remember what it was called. Might be Strawberry Fields, but that just doesn't seem right in that little bit of functional memory that I still have. Thanks for trying - I will just call it my green w/pink-polyp monti cap. bob

For me, bristleworm control means NOT grabbing anything without checking for the little @#$%@!! I find soaking my finger in vinegar seems to get rid of the bristles fairly quickly. When I am going to be moving rocks and frags around, I always keep forceps and a container nearby. Have never tried to actually catch them, but I do have one of those traps, in case I decide they are too many. bob

Okay... let's see if I can remember how to do this. The polyps may be a bit more pink than orange. The base is kind of a khaki green. bob

Sweet! A small goby and shrimp were the first inhabitants of my 240. They took up residence under a rock right in the front of the tank. About a year later, they disappeared. 6 months later, I found them - not too far from their original hole. About a year after that they disappeared again, and it's been about a year since I saw them. I think they are probably gone. But they sure gave me a lot of pleasant entertainment! bob

Wish I had known MS had formalin. Though maybe it wasn't pure enough. When I was 'fixing' AEFW specimens for DNA studies, I had to have someone ship it to me. It is just hard to get, unless you are an institution (school, etc.). And even getting denatured alcohol is a challenge - they put 'gasoline' in it, so people can't drink it. Both items used to be available at the corner drugstore - no questions asked. Of course - you could get an ounce of mercury then, too. bob

Thanks, Chip - I saved it as a 'sample'. Naturally all of our switches have different names, etc. I just started simple, and added a bit of this and that over the years. In 3 years of having an AC-III this is the first time I've lost my programming. I'll be ready for the next time! bob

Okay... figured that out - push UP and DOWN together, then 'select'. And yes... all of my programming is gone. And I have 3 outlet boxes... 5 sets of lights... and no written record of which outlet is for what. Sigh... bob

I accidentally pushed the wrong 'reset' button on my AC-III. I'm guessing I've lost all of my programming. I meant to push 'network reset'. FIRST problem - if I want a 4-character userid or password, how do I END the userid input? i.e. - if I want 'abcd' for my userid, I can put in a, b, c, d... but then it wants me to choose another letter. There doesn't seem to be a 'okay, that's all I want' selection. I know I did it before, but now I can't figure it out. Any assistance?? Thanks, bob
