  1. Sure thing. I'll pm you my contact info.
  2. Tom, I can help you if you like. How many holes do you need and what size? I've done about 15 or so holes now and haven't cracked anything. It's not too difficult, it just takes a few minutes. I have a drill and putty, but you may want get a new bit as I've put about 10 holes on this one.
  3. Rob, are you talking about BSJs? They don't eat sand. I think you may be confusing them with sand sifting gobies or maybe you were referring to sinking pellets? IME, BSJs like the food to be floating around in the water column. They will go to the surface or eat off the bottom, but only if they have to. When I first got them, they would frequently ignore the food if it was on the top or bottom. If something is moving past quickly, they will probably eat it. You can also train them to eat out of a turkey baster if you feel the need to target feed, but that becomes more of a pain than it is worth. Clowns and BSJs are fine together. Mine have all ignored each other for the most part. The jawfish will blow water at them or occasionally nip at them if they are too close, but that's mostly because the clowns can be curious and like stick their heads down the jawfish holes. The clowns aren't hosting anywhere in particular right now.
  4. Actually you may want them on the emergency overflow. If something plugs and water is going up that high, you want a siphon to form so it can keep up. The emergency drain is usually smaller so it will handle less water by default. It isn't about the noise on the emergency drain it's about making sure water doesn't end up on the floor.
  5. Funny that you are looking for these right now. I just ordered eggs from Brine Shrimp Direct and decided to try one of their super expensive hatching trays. Supposedly they work without needing an airline.
  6. Very nice! Looking forward to pics!
  7. Mine has worked flawlessly. I've had it for about 3 years now.
  8. I saw some bulkheads over at petland in fairfax the other day. I don't remember if they have hose nipples or not.
  9. Looking at images on google, that's exactly what it looks like! Kind of like a bone through the skin with some irritation around it. I don't think I have any potassium permanganate. I'll see if I can pick some up tonight. Thank you all for the replies!
  10. I have small yellow tang in quarantine and he has a spot on his side. It was very small when I first got him (a little over week ago) but it is getting larger. I couldn't get a pic from the front, but there seems to be a small hair? bone? parasite? something stick out or hanging on. I was getting ready to try copper, but my fish med book was saying not to use that if they had an open wound. I'm having trouble deciding what it is. Does anyone know what this might be?
  11. Thanks, I've been soaking away. They perk up as soon as anything garlic hits the water, but don't take a bite of anything. Yes, those are the ones. In the mean time, Tuesday is a long ways off. . . suggestions or ideas are welcome. The only other thing I can think of is live blackworms, but the last shipment SuperPets got in was bad and they were all dead. My flame angel didn't seem overly impressed by them anyway as they only wriggle for about 10 seconds after getting put in saltwater.
  12. I picked up a pair of coral beauty angels over the weekend and I can't get them to eat anything. The supplier said they were feeding them mini mysis which appears to be marketed by H2O Life. Does anyone know of a source for them locally? My other angel ate like a pig, but these guys have refused everything - fresh oysters, nori, two brands of mysis, new life spectrum pellets sm and md, spectrum flake, spirulina wafers and flakes, live brine, rods food, fresh lettuce (frozen and then thawed) and most of them with garlic extreme added. I don't really want to overnight frozen food. That would cost more than the fish did!
  13. Does anyone have the PAR readings of a single CREE LED? I've seen the plots from full setups and I can divide the output by the number of LEDs, but doing it that way doesn't account for the amount of overlap provided by different spacings. Even more helpful would be a reading with optics. I'm trying to make a guess at some numbers for a setup like the attached pic.
  14. Freshwater dips are only for parasites. There is a sticky for common problems at the top of one of the forums.
  15. It woke me up in Crystal City. I tried looking out my window to see if the Pentagon was getting bombed or something.
  16. Someone replied to another query that they had some for sale on the 12th. . . Whether they still are or not I don't know. You'll have to check the WTB/For Sale section. All for sale and WTB posts have to go in that forum.
  17. Google the Bean Animal overflow. It's a further development of the Herbie as I understand it. I have dual overflows on my 180 and with 1-1/2" overflow tubes through a 1" bulkhead I'm keeping up with a Dart without trouble. The limiting factor is the overflow box itself. The pre-drilled "return" holes are also set up as an overflow, but are dry unless something gets plugged (hasn't happened yet). Just make sure to use a plastic air valve on your airline to control the water height and keep the end of the airline fixed at an emergency water level so you can get a full siphon if you need to dump the water fast.
  18. Is there a way to make the pic larger? All I see is the thumbnail.
  19. Looks good, Rob. I didn't see on your LED thread what optics you picked. The light seems to be very focused. Even more so than when there wasn't any water in the tank (although that might be just an illusion). Have you taken any PAR readings now that that water has cleared? If the shot with the dust storm is any indicator it doesn't look like most of the light is penetrating below about 50%. Thoughts on that fourth bulb? Are you going to run it with wide or no optics to get some general light in the tank?
  20. I had them together. . . They never showed any interest in each other.
  21. Thank you all for the offers and advice. I should probably just buy one as I have about 10 holes to drill. I decided that water changes and sponge filters on my breeding tanks are a lot of work.
