  1. He's driving me crazy... I caught bicolor blenny the same way, only took me like 10 mins. Looks like I'll have to train him to accept net being in promoxity then trap the sucker. Hopefully, he'll fall for it by tomorrow morning, poor six-line is taking it most than others... Pseudo didn't really cared for any other new fishes that is smaller, it looks like he's targeting six-line mainly. I have placed a cluster of large barnacles in case he start to like the place and use it for his bed- I'll take it out if he's in there during the night.
  2. I'm getting really frustrated trying to catch a Bicolor Pseudochromis in my reef tank- I don't want to change aquascape, move anything or aggravate the residents. Been trying to trick him by having food in net, bottle fishtrap by Dhoch, using mirror to get him fight himself and distracted by net. This SOB is really hard for me to catch! He's harassing all fishes in my tank, beating up my six-line wrasse and refuse to leave him alone. If anyone have better method or can come by, you can have him- kill him, hang him, dry him out by the sun etc. I don't care, he's making me really mad.
  3. Owchie, hope you're ok! Those xoa toxin can be very nasty, even can blind or kill someone. I always use shop google and mask while working with zoas. I know that I felt funny after I working with them and having a small open wound on my fingers... That's why we should always take extra precaution with zoa when fragging, removing, etc.
  4. T-8 and T-12 has the same pin arrangement and can be interchangable on same sockets depends on ballasts. T-5 has smaller pin arrangment and would require different sockets.
  5. Nitrate is way too high- some might accept 15 ppm but in long term effect, it would just wreck havoc on your system. You would want it under .5ppm. Add some nitrifying bacteria and bring nitrate down. Also, cut down on feeding and check your fish bio-load. Peppermints are usually hardiest of all shrimps next to coral banded shrimps. Don't get upset, we all have our loss and it's all part of the hobby. I lost a very nice healthy yellow tang last fall because ammonia test kit didn't properly measure the ammonia level in my 30g. He was $29.99 and kicked the bucket within 24 hours. I was very upset because I could've invested a couple extra bucks for more reliable and better testing kit...
  6. I highly doubt it would work at all. I've experimented with various HID light such as mercury vapor, high pressure sodium, low pressure sodium, etc- all of them won't run at different rating from the ballast. I don't think it would be safe if it even works because there's always a risk of damaging the bulb, the HID class lights are prone to shattering.
  7. Ahh then that was Red Wellsi I lost... I have 2 ultra green merletti (2 heads on 1 and 5 heads on other)
  8. He'll be ok My clams actually don't use their foot that much- they just blow to get around.
  9. My frag tank is just LR, eggcrates, good light, and good skimmer. I have a few frag guardians- peppermint shrimp, coral banded shrimp, and 1 damsel. I like it bare bottom so i can't lose the frags if they comes off. Right now, my frag tank has a small leak and have to be fixed but when it's fixed and running- hopefully by May, I'll post a few photo.
  10. I always told my wife they were freebie or trade Anything over $20, she raises hade on me. I have 2nd job just to earn money for my reef hobby and she still nag me about it... Just don't tell her about my supergirl and superman montipora frags, she might have me sleep on couch for a whole month.
  11. Ahh, my error I thought green was wellsi and red was merletti. Sound fitting tho, merlot is red and merletti sounds almost like merlot, hehe. I had one before, a frag with only one head- hair algae killed it... I have 2 merletti, tho. If anyone want to trade a couple heads of wellsi for merletti then let me know
  12. darn right! We would be hanged by League of Angry Wives!
  13. I use wire cutter and sometime when I don't have patience, I just chop it up with some hard metal piece- it would just break even through a row without destroying the structure.
  14. May be Aiptasia or some kind of condo anemone.
  15. Owchie, he looks partially dead- won't be long till he turns into jelly and just float away in the current. Sorry, bro. If you want more of similar one- Many people here have frogspawn, hammer, fine grape, bubble (high water quality only), and many more. I'm sure they'll sell you a frag at good price. I have a frogspawn and fine grape that I may frag soon.
  16. I didn't have best of luck with torches... All of my hammer, frogspawn, and fine grape are doing great- they're in same family. I had a torch in temporary tank for a while, doing well in there while some acros didn't do good. When I transferred them all, torch died within 3-4 days. I remember my other torch, it died a month after I got it. I'm not going to buy any more torches-seems like they're not suit for reef tank. If everyone have better luck then I'm glad for them
  17. Awesome, glad to hear my method works for you

    Frags

    From the album: Frags

    Frags from Dr. Mac
  19. Very nice angel! I heard that they're reef safe and won't eat corals, correct? I've see it on sale at saltwaterfish.com and considering about buying it someday.
  20. Use brand new toothbrush, soft one and gently brush them over. Another idea, you could lay it over on side and let reef janitors clean them off. If still unsure, e-mail GARF and ask them about gorgonian care.
  21. I had hair algae on my yellow gorgonian and I think with better health, gorgonian would grow them off. My gorgonian was in distressed state for a bit when placed in temporary tank and when placed in new 125g, it did so well and the algae was gone.
  22. They can be kept in group only if they're all added at once. However, you would see strict heirarchy order and the top fish'll be constantly beating on bottom fish.
