    Tank - Bar

Very nice project! It's pretty cool that you can do work around the tank while it's running. I'm somewhat jittery about that, if power tool get jammed or something fall, the result would be catasrophic.
  2. Very cute! Don't know if it would help with exercising the shrimp but entertaining!
  3. Do you have 80mm fans running on the bulbs? Also, ballasts should be in spacious environment so the air around it would get circulated rather than build up heat.
  4. I just got extra icecap 660 ballast by accident on eBay- forgot to cancel the bid when I got 2 660. Remember Ice caps will overdrive those bulbs, potentially damage them so 25w 48" might wont cut it. If you order on-line, lemme know what's price you getting- T-5 are bad shipper tho, might be safe bet to go with LFS ordering them for you.
  5. Rick'll just charge a lot more mark-up. That place of business have no interest in helping with orders. I've tried order the impeller from them- I told them I'll call back to confirm the model number, they hung up on me. I'm following up with Exotic Aquarium- they have a lot of lights at GREAT price, BRK- Dhoch have ordered from them, they'll get back to me after florida vaction, Aquarium One- owner said he'll let me know by Friday. I'm still scanning the LFS in MD/VA/DC area that do those type of orders.
  6. Icecap ballast will overdrive those bulbs by about 20% so that's why it's bright. I've been in contact with many LFS to see which would get best prices on HO bulbs. Maybe we can do group buy and all of us get bulbs all arrive at once rather than have store order it again and again. Plus, bulk order tends to cut down the mark-up prices.
  7. I think your airtube might be clogged or the valve is closed- try adjust the valve again, sometime I have to readjust valves repeatly.
  8. Dang, you gotta do DIY manual on how to make one! It might seems simple but wiring certainly need some guidance and how it works with aquacontroller- I've never owned or evaluate one yet. I'm planning on doing one soon.
  9. 5mm (small profile 4mm) Water Clear Diffused Lens 4,000-6,000 mcd (luminous intensity) 3.2 - 3.8 volts operating range, @20ma 180
  10. Welcome!
  11. Yes, the saltwater have high density/gravity which would hold down the bubbles. Freshwater won't actually produce any skimmate unless it is really dirty such as murky water. The book only state to test for leak, it doesn't say it would produce any skimmate.
  12. Yes NO is normal output, HO is high output, and VHO is very high output
  13. I stopped there an hour ago, they have 48" T-5 too but all T-5 they have are NO not HO. Aquarium One say that they may order bulbs if you check with them.
  14. Huhh, I'll have check that today- Congressional usually have high price but $20 for T-5. That's a bit too cheap compared to on-line stores. Exotic Aquatic in Baltimore carries a lot of lights include T-5, I remember the price was real cheap compared to all LFS I checked in MD.
  15. I think tang'll do most of work
  16. Buy 5-6 clowfishes- you'll have a group. When you have anemone or some place for them to spawn, they'll pair up and stray from group. Presto! Your mating pair! You cannot surely expect 2 clownfishes to become mating pair, they don't really take on the only partner if it's opposite member of sex. You gotta go through normal group and pair off process to select the pair.
  17. Ahh ok, that's cool. I just got a neon orange/teal ricordia with double neon green mouths from Dr. Mac. I'm looking forward to fragging it when time comes
  18. Cool! Can I have another 1/2? hehehehe
  19. Maybe I'll investigate when my schedule clears up
  20. I think they normally goes off and pair up from the group. I think someone mention that by having anemone or artifical subsitute would trigger the mating pair up behavior. That means getting 5-6 clownfishes just to determine the pairs.
  21. Other way, soak the hose in water and fill it up, hold both end then place them in their position, let go- siphon process starts
  22. I don't know if I'll ever make a trip down to BRK- it's quite a drive for me but I'll drop them a line and see what they can do. I'm also looking for giesemann bulbs and heard that BRK orders them so maybe I'll make a trip down there if they get those bulbs for me.
  23. Maybe contact the company in Australia. Try on RC, I recall someone did bought a few from an on-line store in Australia.
  24. True! I'm relieved to know that those thing are safe! We should compile a list of all reef safe material, solvents, whatever chemicals that are involved in common reef DIY and have it pinned for future DIYers.
  25. I'll see what I can do- wife usually don't let me play with power tools Maybe we can talk a bit more when we meet.
