    http://www.scales-tfw.com/ there you go
  2. ok i will save that one for the larger tank. would it be ok in 450-500gal tank? with mandarins and like moving fish
  3. wouldnt fish still be in danger in a larger tank as well? why does the additional room make a difference in this case make a difference.
  4. i would like to get a carpet anemone but i am afraid that my mandarins will be doomed. if i keep it well fed and on the substrate will it be fine? how large do they get full grown?
  5. pm sent
  6. excellent! i couldnt a imagine a tank without my sun coral i may get a second one as i love them so much. im glad yours is ok and its interesting to see one that is different from mine as it is the branching type.
  7. thats true and a lot of folks were nice and helped me but i think its a bit intimidating to have to reach out to strangers even in a community as friendly as this one. and when my corals grow i will be looking out for those who helped me when i was starting and also giving free corals to other struggling aquarists. as it should be. but i feel alot better knowing the faces of some of the ppl i talk to on here.
  8. i agree that there should be more of an effort. it seems the only way to meet ppl is buying or selling stuff. the only people i met were from the auction in december and people i have bought stuff from.
  9. i will try that. i just dont want to put her in the tank and have her beaten to death by an abusive mate
  10. i can see him starting to color up a little as i got him a mate today but he must be the ike type of trigger as he was beating her like joe beat michael before a big number. i had to put her in the sump so she could recover a little. what do you recommend. the female is a tiny bit smaller than the male but i tried to get as close as i could. should i just put her back in and cross my fingers or just let he marinate for a while?
  11. i am glad you are well. i have touched zoos before but never did the boiling water thing but its good that people know about this in case it happens to them. your experience though unpleasant may have saved a life as im sure it could have been worse for you or others. well get well soon
  12. well i wouldnt mine so much about the coraline as it will grow back to some degree but i dont mind. i may try that. anyone else have an opinion on this
  13. im looking for an urchin for my tank but i hear they tend to know things down is there a smaller group of urchins or something i have overlooked
  14. i will second what flowerseller is saying about the aquacontroller. it is amazing. i could program this thing to fix me pancakes when i wake up if i wanted to. its better also because as u need timing and wave making and monitoring and control devices later you could save money and not buy thecheaper stuff that adds up when you look at those lfs receipts you'll see what i mean. also they have it for 224 with the dc 8 control device.
  15. you might wanna get rid of the sponges or clean them very frequently as they hold detritus which is ultimately converted into nitrate through the nitrogen cycle. there is a group buy for saltwater fish.com which sells cleaner clams and they help eliminate nitrate naturally becuse it is a nutrient source. but whatever is contributing to the nitrate must also be removed. look at the canister filter first as it is a likely culprit. also for a reef tank you want to keep it under 5ppm. do you have a refugium or deep sand bed. what do you use for nutrient export?
  16. hey chris when you frag that blue and red acan let me know. also nice shots

this is a very good store. they had a beautiful emperor angel that was huge several nice corals some of which i took home and generally competitive prices. i had a very delightful experience there and i would recommend them to others.
  18. the nitrate is a little high and you need to get that down before adding more shrimp. it may at least be a contributing factor to the shrimp's demise when you consider the stress and his weakened state coupled with the nitrate may have been too much. just a thought.
  19. let me find my camera and ill post some. it really looks better in person though.
  20. i saw a female blue chin in scales today and was wondering if size matters when choosing a mate. or is it not a factor for once
  21. it seems like they choose so monitor it closely and see if they get along. a little harder to differentiate between 4 females and two so you should be fine
  22. now if only i could learn what killed my mandarins
  23. i was talking about having lost my lobster recently. in my ignorance i thought that the shell was the remains of his body. it turns out the molted and is doing quite well after having a hardened shell now. learn something new everyday
  24. once again johnny had an excellent selection of goodies but i just got a maori wrasse and more importantly a rainbow monti for a great price for its size. thanx
  25. good point about the price but at least they have a detox clinic for addicts who wanna quit. what reefers like us. who will stop me from buying a 600 dollar controller?
