I’m going to use the 100gal stock tank as a sump directly behind tank. With that setup I did the plumbing pretty easy. I’m gonna run the old sump as another tank in the system and can plumb that in after stock tank in place. I’ll trim the full siphon right below waterline once it’s all setup. I left it long for now. I’m just gonna run one return line. I capped the other one off of I ever feel like using it in future. I may plumb the UV through it independently. Would also give me a backup return from sump if either one were to fail.

Where's that? I haven't heard of them!

Fantasea also QT's fish

If I wanted a fully qt'ed local fish, I'd go to reefescape.

I think Reef eScape is the only one with true quarantine. There are other good shops (like Blue Ribbon Koi and Marine, Supreme Reefs, Rick's Fish and Pets, Fintastic, and Tropical Exotics), but they don't do a full quarantine.

Awesome, thanks for the info. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I will say you can order fish at ReefeScape if they don't have what you are looking for or it isn't common. They also have a fair amount of fish that should be graduating quarantine within the next week or so.

I’m looking to buy some saltwater fish. What are some good LFS in the NOVA area that sells clean, quarantined live stock / fish? Thanks -I’ve been to Reef escape in Fairfax- not many fish for sell. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Looks good!

One layer of vinyl still had transparency. Luckily the piece I ordered was 10’ long. This is two layers of oracle 651 in deep sea blue. Now I can finish plumbing overflow and adding water. Not too much left to go. The front left gap in rocks is where my clam will go.

I had bought many fish from them before without major issues. As Jeremy mentioned, perhaps the level of service degraded as most business tends to be when they made their names known. Last order from 4/2025, only 2/3 of my order was fulfilled but I paid the entire shipping fee. 5 Anthias delivered, few with sign of uronema which extremely contagious and deadly (one didn’t make it after few hours). They were in a 25g QT tank, and I lost all of them. There was a slight going back and forth on the credit but eventually I got them. This time I wanted to spend the credit and be done with them, here I went into the hole again. Again, placed my order on 2/22 and requested to be shipped out on 2/26 so delivery will be next day. It was shown order confirmed, credit card payment went through, and delivery date 2/26. There was no emails, and no response to calls, text, or email til later at night 2/26 and Michael said there was a messed up on my end but he can ship them out on 2/27 so I can have it on Saturday so I told him go ahead. I waited and waited, nothing showed up. I took a day off on Friday and had to changed my family plan on Saturday. If you had good experience and want to continue doing business that’s good for you because I was doing the same until this horrible experience and I was stressed out. Once I spent the remaining credit, I am DONE with this company. Thanks for listening to me vent, I have attached some pictures to prove. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
+1 it's usually a really loose brown sludge that accumulates in places with very low flow (I had it at the bottom of the rear chambers in my AIO.) Haven't noticed particular creatures that seem to thrive in it, so I think it's pretty safe to just siphon out - I have on several occasions to no ill effects - but it does stir up easily so turn off the flow or prepare for some cloudiness.

I would just use a gravel vac to siphon it out during your next water change.

I got an order from their live sale this past week and while they said they had fewer fire shrimp than expected from some losses from their supplier, they sent an email to notify me and the rest arrived healthy and well packed (big box, lots of water, 5 small heat packs in my case.) I did get confused because I am used to picking a delivery day whereas with their checkout you pick a shipping day, but I could be home for the following day so it was no big loss. All in all, my experience was positive. I've had worse cancellations (not telling you it isn't shipping until you open the box) and much shoddier shipping. -

I just had an order two weeks ago and they called me the day before delivery to tell me that the fish I ordered didn't make it. They offered a refund or to wait to see if they got any more later. I asked for a refund. I also asked them to cancel/refund the other fish in the order, which they did. -

FWIW, I had a completely opposite experience with them but it was a few years ago. Maybe something has changed there.

Great to know. I have been looking at their fish but don't want to deal with this. Unprofessional -
[Vent] Went away for 4 days and tank got pretty nuked

Sorry to hear. Even when you think you're prepared, something unexpected can still strike. Hope things turn around. I would perform a big water change and also run activated carbon ASAP. The focus should be to get the fish and livestock into clean water. I would even consider setting up a temp small tank with a piece of live rock, and essential equipment. Just a thought. Just be careful of over heating the water and ammonia build up. You definitely want some aeration.- 1 reply

Went away for a day vacation. Came back to all my fish white as a ghost and the tang swimming upside down. It looks like my 2 engineering Gobies buried my leather coral and it melted. I've been trying to be tolerant of them, as its just their nature.- 1 reply

I’m tapped out. The acrylic paint I bought was NOT working well. Now I’m waiting on some vinyl to arrive. Hoping 3rd times the charm.
