It's... interesting. They don't include that the toxin has to be heated to get into the air other than like spraying unless this cleaner has some reaction that does this that I'm not aware of. It's a very weird take on reef keepers in the beginning. Far too dramatized to me. The rest of the article is pretty cool. Is that our Copps for the quote?

Very odd article - two separate articles mashes together, one of which was alarmist.

BUT, it painted a very good light on the hobby (about 90% deserved imo), which is a counter to the anti-aquarist articles (which are maybe 5-10% deserved).

And it hit the key point - this hobby probably quadruples the number of people who closely appreciate corals and marine life (which otherwise would be mostly limited to a narrow, academic portion of marine biologists - since there's little money/applied utility for coral study). And it thereby builds economy of scale for equipment sales.

Yes, that's our John being quoted.

Also, Palytoxin does not have to be heated to aerosolize. It can do so under simple mechanical means such as scrubbing or even under a stream of cold water.

There are a number of people in this club (me included) that have experienced Palytoxin exposure.

How did it affect you?

Hi. Rather than re-hashing here (I'm at the airport in Denver right now), please search on Palytoxin here on WAMAS. You'll find several threads (going back for several years) , most with links to other threads.
