Yes, I put 2 species of it my little 29 and its spreading.

Will it overgrow other corals?

Should I completely get rid of it?

Is their an easy way to control it? (With GPS, I easily rip it out with tweezers).

Dip xenia covered rock in bleach?

Only way to control it is to keep the rock that it's on away from other rocks.

Once it starts growing, it's like a weed. It will overtake a lot of stuff.

I had issues with mine dropping bombs and floating around the tank. Even with it being separate I started to see it on the other side of my tank.

I've had some success with cutting the base off and then covering the remnants with Kalk paste.

Given the right conditions it will spread and become a nuisance.  In my tank it has actually climbed to separate rocks that were not touching.  You can actually see it stretch out like Mr. Fantastic and then it's in two places.

The best way I've found to remove xenia is with gauze.

Take a piece of gauze and fold it into a U.  Then hold the gauze between your fingers and use it to grip the xenia stalk and tear it completely off the rock.  The gauze allows you to grip the xenia even though it's slimey.

This process leaves only the smallest amount of xenia behind.  And I mean tiny.  You can brush off the remaining xenia dust with a toothbrush if you want.

Trust me. JUST GET RID OF IT! lol I had same experience as bruleyii. hopefully your tank is smaller and much more manageable than mine. I did the kalk paste until I removed it from the system

FREE XENIA!  PM me!

Too funny.  I had the same problem for the first year of my tank, then it started petering out.  No idea why.
