Reefer_Madness December 3, 2015 December 3, 2015 Looking to get another wrasse. I love wrasse colors and personality. Peaceful wrasse only that is ok with SPS, LPS, Zs, Ps, snails, and shrimp. Tank mates are: Melanurus Wrasse Christmas Wrasse Royal Flasher Wrasse Assessor Cherub Angelfish Bicolor Blenny Royal Gramma Purple Dartfish Bali Picasso Clown I could use some more yellow, orange or green.
rtelles December 3, 2015 December 3, 2015 Naoko fairy wrasse. I've seen a few and the yellow really pops. They're also considered peaceful. QR has them sometimes but they're way overpriced there. Other places like incredible corals sometimes carry them as well.
Reefer_Madness December 3, 2015 Author December 3, 2015 Naoko fairy wrasse. Good suggestion. They look really cool close up and that yellow does pop.
Reefer_Madness December 3, 2015 Author December 3, 2015 Actually I think that pic above is a Kenya Wrasse. It is very similar, but different. Good lookin fish too
Reefer_Madness December 3, 2015 Author December 3, 2015 (edited) I have a radiant wrasse. love itThat is a beautiful fish Eric! Edited December 3, 2015 by Reefer_Madness

Seth you always have some good ideas for fish. Frame wrasse got my vote. I'm thinking the same.
Reefer_Madness December 4, 2015 Author December 4, 2015 Mystery wrasse? I really like Mystery wrasses, but when I research them I get really different reports. I buddy of mine had a Mystery and said he was a model citizen. Beautiful fish. He's suggested it for a while, but I've read some bad experiences too with aggression. I have all peaceful fish. I'd hate to mess that up. Do you have one?
dipg December 4, 2015 December 4, 2015 (edited) You will love the flame wrasse. Really great community fish and absolutely beautiful. Yes, there are other wrasses which are prettier but this is comes with no additional baggage. I have two terminal phase male (started as one male and female) and they get along fine other than occasional chasing. If also like my pair of leopard wrasses....friends who visit me always ask me about my leopard wrasse. Here are pics of my wrasses. Edited December 4, 2015 by dipg
YHSublime December 4, 2015 December 4, 2015 Flame Wrasse are nice. I had a mystery, and he was very good looking, loved jumping the overflow and visiting the sump. Got spooked and bullied I think by all the other fish, so my report would be very docile compared to others IME. My favorite wrasse, hands down, is the hoeven's wrasse (commonly known as the Melanurus.) I will never forget the first one I saw, and had one of those "I have to have that in my tank" moments.

Hearing first hand advice is great. I love leopard wrasses but they intimidate me. Lots of sad stories with leopards.

Lots of sad stories with leopards. I agree about leopard wrasses. You have to get it from a good source. I got mine from Marco where they were in QT/acclimating for at least 4 months before I got them. By the time i got them they were already eating anything I would throw at them including dry flakes. I have had them almost a year now without any issue.

gmerek2 December 4, 2015 December 4, 2015 (edited) I have a yellow coris wrasse and love it. Everyone I know says they lost theirs with jumping. Pretty standard with all wrasse yea but have to throw that in there for anyone reading. It is also hard finding a healthy coris as mentioned above. Got my second to take. People mentioned on LA how wonderful and peaceful hoevens wrasse is but it attacked the day lights out of my coris when added forcing into overflow. I had to remove it and put it in my new tank. I could be very wrong but my assumption is that I didn't have a large enough tank for 3 wrasse to have enough space. Amazing fish and pics dippy Edited December 4, 2015 by gmerek2

Amazing fish and pics dippy What size was that tank? I think it has more to do with order introduced and species. You gotta plan it out well in advance and you may still get one with a bad personality. I planned out my 3 wrasses in the cube and they all get along perfectly.....so far. I don't think there will ever be a sure fire combo of wrasse that work 100% of the time.
rain December 5, 2015 December 5, 2015 I have a McCoskers Flasher wrasse and he is awesome. Great fun to watch, peaceful with his tank mates and corals, and a great eater. Very very happy with him. Wish I could find him a lady friend but I never see females listed anywhere.
gws3 December 6, 2015 December 6, 2015 So many great cirrhilabrus species to choose from. I think I am up to about 15 specimens in the 300 now.

gws3 December 6, 2015 December 6, 2015 Nice! Are there any that you have issues with like aggression or picking at corals? I've never had one picking at corals. The only ones exhibiting aggression right now are between a large male multicolor velvet and some existing female solorensis and a ruby head fairy wrasse. But I only added the velvet last night in the acclimation box. Usually this agression calms down after a day or two and then I release them from the box. They are all similar body types and colors... three female solorensis and a ruby head, the velvet is the fifith that looks similar... so I figure if the four get along the fifth will be ok once they get used to him in a few days. I think a SMALL amount of healthy aggression is good... probably helps keep the males colored up. Not to the point theres any physical injuries though... just the occasional chasing. The only one I would have reservations about is the scott's fairy wrasse. I don't have any females for him and his once vivid colors have faded quite a bit, but they are notorious for this.
