thakki January 29, 2015 January 29, 2015 Can you help me ID those white pointy strings around my frag plug? I only see them around zoa frags?
YHSublime January 29, 2015 January 29, 2015 It's not. Probably vermated snails or tube worms. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
thakki January 29, 2015 Author January 29, 2015 Okay...I will try a better picture tomorrow under the white light.
epleeds January 31, 2015 January 31, 2015 Looks like a type of algae. Do u have any tangs in the tank?

Origami January 31, 2015 January 31, 2015 They look like colonial hydroids and they can become a pest. If this is the only place they're located, you may want to remove the rock. Research them.
gmerek2 January 31, 2015 January 31, 2015 Had a small patch. Pull them off like weeds and super glue them where you can't reach
khh27 January 31, 2015 January 31, 2015 I had them on a relatively new tank but went away after about 6 months in. But you will want to remove them to be safe.
YHSublime January 31, 2015 January 31, 2015 That picture is so much better! Yes, looks like colonial hydroids. They go away from most, however, we have some members that are battling them. I would pull off what you can, on the zoas, I would do a hydrogen peroxide/saltwater dip, and pull off what I can before that. Just my two cents.
thakki February 1, 2015 Author February 1, 2015 What a mess...I did water change today...these two frags were totally surrounded by them...it was hard job to pull them off...it was actually making my zoa's not open...it managed to pull whatever it can...but I do see tiny strings still attached to them...pulled them off the plugs and glued to e new plug...didn't have h2o2...but dipped them in revive. Not sure if that helps get rid of those colonial hydroids. Thanks for all the tips.
