But..... need more info! what fish ya thinking... what kind of corals are you planning on keeping in there... it's very very pretty! Thanks everyone. I haven't quite picked out the fish but I'll be careful to take my time. I plan to use the upper part of the rock for SPS and the lower for LPS and Zoas...again I'll take my time and hopefully a few folks here will be turn me on to some super frags. I was considering a trip to MrCoral .. recommendations for area suppliers? I have found Kings of Coral to be great ... but will also give BRK a shake soon.

fishdrummer June 9, 2014 Author June 9, 2014 (edited) A few more pics ... I promise to shoot higher quality pics. Currently I have a six line wrasse and a Banghai Cardinal (will get a few more). Note the tremendous job handled by the Margarita snails.. Edited June 9, 2014 by fishdrummer
smallreef June 10, 2014 June 10, 2014 Skip Mr. coral... You've closest to King of Corals, as you have found out, ERC is out that way too...don't know any more in MD other than Pacific East Aquaculture...though its farther away it's great... Then in VA you have Quantum Reefs, Incredible Corals, Blue Ribbon Koi; which are all fairly far north so not too bad...Springfield then manassas areas respectively...
HgrReefs June 10, 2014 June 10, 2014 +1 on skipping Mr Coral. Aside from the place being closed, the reputation they maintained was far from positive, aside from the brief time a local hobbyist ran it at the end. As far as corals, don't forget that WAMAS has their meeting coming up in July, so you should be able to get some great pieces there. Also, keep an eye out on this forum. I've been able to get some great stuff here from local hobbyists.

fishdrummer July 23, 2014 Author July 23, 2014 (edited) Hello everyone and I hope you are enjoying the summer. I made the trip to ERC and it was a tremendous place...well worth the effort. I also made a few purchases from Jason Fox and some fish and margarita snails (I now have approx 40) from live aquaria. The algae seems to be under pretty good control with some left over for the tang. The system is cycling nicely. I have had to tweak the SW replacement as the salinity was drifting down ...added a little nozzle to the drain to slow it down a little and it seems to have done the trick. I have also added Kalk to the ATO trashcan (about ¼ teaspoon per gallon) and now I am monitoring the PH and ALK carefully to make sure it is in line with the needs of the few corals that I now have. I use the Litermeter III to drive the ATO from the basement to the sump. I'll post photos soon. I pulled this list from Reef Central to consider future purchases. If anyone here has frags of interest would you ping me? Also, are there any master SPS keepers near the Bethesda area? I would love to see your system to get ideas. matt August 8, 2014 August 8, 2014 Glad you liked my tank...and glad to hook you up. Will be following along on your build Also, quite interested to see how you like that skimmer. I keep toying with an upgrade and your pick would fit my sump.
fishdrummer August 9, 2014 Author August 9, 2014 Matt, the skimmer is terrific within the footprint. As my bio load increases I will let you know how it holds up. It took me a spell to dial in but now it skims really nicely. LIVE camera is up now: http://www.ustream.t...el/rimless-reef
