AlanM May 15, 2014 May 15, 2014 What is going on here? Looks like the orange flesh had a bubble and its kind of peeling off now.
Coral Hind May 15, 2014 May 15, 2014 I've seen them bubble up when getting to much light or when eggs are about to pop out.
GraffitiSpotCorals May 16, 2014 May 16, 2014 It's had relations with its cousin the bubble coral. You should see what happens then they go sister brother...
matt May 16, 2014 May 16, 2014 I had two setosa frags...one of them did that and it didn't make it. The other is now a small colony sitting (kid you not) directly on my sandbed. Generally quite the tough one for me..I see small pieces growing randomly on the sand in my tank...presuming a fish brakes pieces off from time to time. Is this specimen big enough to frag a small bit and separate?
AlanM May 16, 2014 Author May 16, 2014 Yes, it's about 3 inches across at this point, so I could take a branch off and attach it somewhere. I'll keep an eye on it and if it progresses will take a branch off before it reaches the end. Will be sad to lose it for unknown reasons.
YHSublime May 16, 2014 May 16, 2014 I've got a chunk growing if worst comes to worst, Alan. You're welcome to a frag if you lose your current piece!
Origami May 16, 2014 May 16, 2014 I've got a chunk growing if worst comes to worst, Alan. You're welcome to a frag if you lose your current piece! Same here.
AlanM May 16, 2014 Author May 16, 2014 Thanks. Mine was from copps and was one of the first frags in and I've always really liked the color and growth form. It seems totally unique to that species. I'd like a massive pile of it like corsi, I think, had where he put another coral mounted in the middle of it, heh.
matt May 16, 2014 May 16, 2014 Mine were from yauger and are pink. I, too, can frag if you ever need a replacement
nova423 May 18, 2014 May 18, 2014 I had one that lost surface area like that. I didn't mess with any parameters bc everything else looked fine. Ended up growing back all the lost tissue and is doing fine.
AlanM June 16, 2014 Author June 16, 2014 Just an update to this. It lost all flesh in the center in an area about the size of a dime. I left it alone and it all seems to be growing back over the lost area. There's a crack about the size of half a pencil eraser now that closes up day by day.
