I did the Marc Levensons suggestion of the 75W bulb and clamp socket from Lowes or Home Depot, all for $14.95 + tax. and you can see the difference in the sump. Things are coming alive like crazy. My suggestion,, don't spend $$$ in fancy light fixtures when it is so easy to DIY with Melev's idea.

Actually the cost difference is only about $3. But I am going the Melev route.

Good choice, the biggest difference IMO between your two choices would be rated W's. 13W vs. 75W or 85W @ almost the same cost

careful.. that is the "comparison" wattage. The actual wattage of the screw in bulb is 19 watts. Still a scosh more, but not hugely more.

i think the ideology behind it is that it produces the same amount of light as a 75w or 85w being incandescent.

i have been using the buld marc recommend on his site for over a year now with great success.

just my 2 cents

I have used it successfully also since Apr. I haven't seen any chatter about how great the questioned lights here are.

Geez, I was thinking about the "comparable" marketing numbers... you are right the true ratings are pretty close. In poking around this evening I found the LOA 65W 6500K flood light assembly for $12.50 + $4 shipping. The marketing wattage on this one is 500W... LOL. I will be buying a few... not sure if they have them listed wrong, but I'm not going to ask them about it.

Thats a good deal because they sell for $20 plus shipping on ebay! I am going to buy 2 of these.

The PC flood light most of us are talking about here (also listed on melevsreef.com), I found the cheapest price at BuyLighting.com at $9.95 with shipping approx $6.20. This is cheaper than the link off melev's site. The BuyLighting site gives you a choice of 3 versions: 16w , 19w, and 23w with coloring optionss at 2700k, 4100K, and 5100K for all wattages. The price is the same for all.

BTW this is the same manufacturer too, "TCP".
