trockafella September 20, 2013 September 20, 2013 The razor nano is supernice.! I have a 27" and love it, although I haven't grown any SPS under it. But halides are tried and true, cant go wrong. IMO the best looking light by far.

matt September 20, 2013 September 20, 2013 photosynthetic gorgonian tank and macro-algae...but steal that idea about a gsp carpet and use that too. then get yourself a blue spot jawfish and a blue spotted toby puffer. rotate in some cheap hermits and snails as they get eaten.
swimmatte September 20, 2013 September 20, 2013 Zoas/palys with wrasses! Yeah right...... you'll never stop keeping Chalices!

trockafella September 20, 2013 September 20, 2013 Would I need a 400w for a depth of 18? NO. Not at all. He is being funny... A 150w would do fine. Id go with a 150w DE Radium or a 250w SE radium in a nice reflector, with some LED actinics.
Ryan S September 20, 2013 Author September 20, 2013 I've always thought of MH's like this: <12"=150w 12-24"=250w 24-36"=400w >36"=1000w But for a small nano or cube, I'd probably just go LEDs. Cheap and easy.

kjamaya September 20, 2013 September 20, 2013 You guys convinced me.... lets start a razor led fund and everyone that contributes gets a free frag when the tank grows out
tomtom2245 September 20, 2013 September 20, 2013 You know the simple solution to the lighting issue? Make it a non-photosynthetic tank!
Coral Hind September 20, 2013 September 20, 2013 I would do a caribbean biotope. A fish only tank with a several mated pairs of yellow head jawfish, a super deep sandbed, and sea grasses. I saw a tank at the Philly Zoo that had that exact setup with about 20 jawfish in it. It was pretty cool as they hovered right over their holes.
zygote2k September 21, 2013 September 21, 2013 How about a huge Puffer that can just turn around in the tank. When you want to do a water change, just make him puff and displace a few gallons.
