Swimmatte's First Saltwater Tank

Recommended Posts

I've been a wamas member for around a month now and have really met some great people in this short period of time. My dad had a SW tank when I was young but didn't really know what he was doing, kept fish only, and ended quickly. I have now been keeping Freshwater for quite some time but finally took the plunge into the saltwater hobby a couple months ago. I am currently running the following equipment:

56g Marineland Column

Reef Octopus bh1000 skimmer

(3) Koralia 750's

Aquaclear 70 running Chemipure Elite only.

2 Crappy Fluval Heaters

(2) Kessil a150w 15,000k LED's

I have purchased a sump and overflow kit, not I just need to get my hands on a return so I can get a sump going.

The tank is stocked with the following:

(1) Foxface

(2) Juvenile occ clowns

(1) Six Line Wrasse

(2) Peppermint Shrimp

(1) Acan Crab

Some Mexican Turbos

Some Hermits

Some Nassarius Snails

Random other snails

75 lbs live rock

Purple Clove Polyps

Unknown Acan

Xenia

RBTA

Pink Tipped Condylactis Anemone

Many heads of Frogspawn

Many Zoas and Palys

Grinch Monti

Rainbow Lobo

Gold Torch

Superman Monti

GSP

Sunset In July Chalice

Trumpet

Green Birdsnest

Hollywood Stunner Chalice

Dragon Soul Favia

Crappy iPhone pics to follow.....

Ugh. Sideways.... I'll work on these tomorrow. Plus, I'll hopefully be able to borrow a friends real camera soon.

nice- thanks for posting up on here. now we can follow along!

Thanks. I'm pretty proud of it for the small amount of time that I've been in the game. I should thank you, jauger, ERC, IC, Almon, and many others for hooking me up with a bunch of awesome corals. I also have no idea where I'm putting the corals I'm picking up at the meeting but I'll figure it out.

Now I just need my parts to come in so I can get you over to help drill my tank and get rid of all that ugly equipment.

Then I'll find a decent camera to take some worthwhile pics.

Thanks!

I got that awesome 24" tall corner rock from Josh and plan to cover it in zoas and palys. I think that'll look pretty cool. Really can't wait to get "sumped".

looks like a good start, be carefull with the Xenia, it can take over your tank.

Don't worry, my new RBTA took care of my Xenia growth two days ago.

I probably have 8 or so stalks of Xenia and she turned 4 of them into a grey shriveled mess. Some is beginning to revive itself so I wonder if it all will come back. Either way, I wouldn't be upset. With that said, if this stuff wants to stay in my tank it needs to learn to move in the right direction. The half that survived was sliding it's way to a back corner while the stalks that got zapped was trying to more towards the middle of the tank. Hopefully it learned from it's mistake as it seems my RBTA has now settled on it's new home and is blocking the Xenia's path to the rest of the tank. This would be an ideal situation.
