STEVE February 17, 2013 Share February 17, 2013 That is going to fit just fine there ! Looks cleaner already! I'm jealous that you get to have the space behind the wall as your "fish room".

CaptainRon February 18, 2013 Author Share February 18, 2013 Yeah. Their cheap reef saver stuff. Also have 20 pounds of flats from marcorock. It'll get mixed in with some of the current rock I have - a mixture of figi rock from Rozens from the late 90's and some Florida reef rock of the same vintage. YHSublime February 18, 2013 Share February 18, 2013 Look forward to it, I've been looking at pictures of other peoples rockwork to get a feel for what I'm going to do. Setting the asthetics is the foundation of the tank! I look forward to seeing how the shelves from MarcoRock match in color, might follow suite. CaptainRon February 18, 2013 Author Share February 18, 2013 There's some of the marco rocks visible in that picture. And color doesn't really matter - in six months you won't be able to tell one from the next as it all darkens and eventually gets covered in coraline. CaptainRon February 18, 2013 Author Share February 18, 2013 I soaked it in fresh water for a couple weeks. We'll see how it goes - I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for the best but preparing for the worst.
CaptainRon February 19, 2013 Author Share February 19, 2013 First stab and placing the rock. Still have a couple small flats left over. Not sure I like it yet. I'll more than likely take it all out and try again tomorrow. Aquascaping is always such a painful process for me!

MBVette February 19, 2013 Share February 19, 2013 Looks good, seems like there will be a good bit of swimming room for the fish
CaptainRon February 19, 2013 Author Share February 19, 2013 Thanks everyone for following along so far. I don't know that i'll go much higher with the rockworl. Maybe in one small section, but I'd like to let the corals grow up into the water column. I hope to have a lot of room for fish to swim and plenty of hiding spaces for them to feel nice and safe. DDiver February 21, 2013 Share February 21, 2013 Lookin good Ron ...the one thing I've learned about aquascaping over the years is that if you put in too much effort into it, you'll never be happy with it.. You plan on having more rock in your sump?
YHSublime February 21, 2013 Share February 21, 2013 Lookin good Ron ...the one thing I've learned about aquascaping over the years is that if you put in too much effort into it, you'll never be happy with it.. You plan on having more rock in your sump? When I redid my work on my nano, I hated what I "planned" as compared to what I had when I just tossed it in. Most folks said go back until your happy with it. I really like your rock work Ron, can't wait to see some corals on it!
CaptainRon February 21, 2013 Author Share February 21, 2013 I took the rockwork apart the other night but haven't had a chance to get back to it. Having a sick household it fun! lol I tend to do my 'scapes pretty quickly because that part of reefing is just painful for me. I like it to be done and over with - otherwise I get WAY too indecisive and agonize over every little thing. So quick and dirty is usually how it goes. And if I don't like it, just take it out and do another quick and dirty again.
