surf&turf December 21, 2012 December 21, 2012 Check out this plate on ebay. http://www.ebay.com/...d=181045301173
trockafella December 21, 2012 December 21, 2012 Its cool. But i really like how it says rare color , 6 sold and 9 available. Kinda kills the rareness..
flooddc December 21, 2012 December 21, 2012 Very nice one! but $50 shipping and only 2 hours guarantee bite!
Gadgets December 21, 2012 December 21, 2012 Aquarium One has one just like it. No shipping costs either. It may be sold by now though.
zygote2k December 22, 2012 December 22, 2012 looks like a common color in plates. hope no one pays more than $40 for it.

Amuze December 22, 2012 December 22, 2012 Seen a bunch in the last few months. Any from $50-$100 at times. Even LA had some and they never have nice plates.
zygote2k December 22, 2012 December 22, 2012 Here's the deal with plates as far as I know with suppliers- Orange and Orange morphs are rare. All of the green, blue, red, striped, spotted, pink, short tentacle/ long tentacle are common variants of plate corals. In fact, they have so many of these they make you buy 2 or 3 of them for every Orange plate sold. The non Orange models are half the price or even a third of the price of the Orange models. When I see this auction on ebay and can look around the edges of the picture and see multiples of the same item, then either the seller is a huge supplier of plate corals or in fact, this color morph is not that rare. It's certainly not worth the $100 price tag when I can get a nice Orange Fungia for less than that. Caveat Emptor!
L8 2 RISE December 22, 2012 December 22, 2012 If you have access to the suppliers that sell based on that pricing scheme, I'll take as many red, pink, and spotted plates as you can get your hands on! I dont think I've seen a red plate for less than $300.

zygote2k December 22, 2012 December 22, 2012 BTW. That plate is 30-40 Wholesale. You're assuming that based on the $100 tag? I'm guessing he bought high and is selling them a little higher to move them quicker. 15 available sounds like someone is speculating on a certain color trend.
zygote2k December 22, 2012 December 22, 2012 In the Big Aussie Coral War that has been going on now, I see people mark things up 10-15% over cost to lure buyers in.
