Any reason for not putting a door on the front for access. It's gonna be a pain to aqua scape and to add/remove coral. Looking good though.

Thanks all. I didn't put a door on the front because the wife didn't want it.

I have access to both sides so I guess I'll just have to go out and buy a snorkel!

If it gets bad, acrylic ice scrapers for cars work very well as do freshly cut (by scoring and snapping) sheets of acrylic. You can also, once you get it scratched up a little bit, use some fine sandpaper on a magnet to remove whatever is there. I use 3M drywall sanding "brillo" type pads and they remove the scratches and polish after time elapses as well. Pretty much any sort of acrylic pad is the same thing, it's just that the ones I use are a bit more abrasive.

Why aren't you doing a custom sump? I see a big salt creep issue arising with the way the drain is entering the sump.

Way ahead of you Rob. I've already spoken to Adam at Artfully Acrylic about the custom sump. I wanted to wait to get all of the tile down under the stand and get all of my equipment in so I can make use of every bit of space.

Can you expand on this? I thought having the beananimal there would be zero creep since there are zero bubbles? There should be absolutely no splashing with this setup.

Sure thing. Even though the Bean Animal overflow drastically reduces bubbles, they are still there. You have a main overflow that is a 100% syphon, but your secondary takes up the slack. This one does produce some bubbles. Over time there is the potential for some salt creep.

the bean overflow has nothing to do with the splashing that is occurring in his sump when the water exits the pipe. You'll need to incorporate the bubble killer box if you want ultra quiet and ZERO salt creep. I design all of my sumps this way on all new installs and Brendan at Cold Blooded Supply does awesome acrylic work featuring this design.

And that was AFTER rinsing it.

Looks good!! Should be great when it clears up.

I am going to do the back of the tank black. I don't have a check valve on the return........I've cut the pump a number of times and it can handle the backflow.

Tell me about it.......I only used 2 bags of sand too.

I only used 80 pounds of sand for my tank too. I originially bought 240 pounds. I slightly over estimated.

It certainly covers more that you would think.

I have the durock at home and waiting to go up. Hoping to have that up by the weekend and start on the mosaic wall next week. I'll be testing this weekend to see if I avoided a cycle (I've been swapping tank water between new and existing tank for 2 weeks). Hoping all is ready for a livestock transfer within the next few weeks. Fingers crossed!
