So I'm looking to find out what that thing is growing out of my snail that kinda looks like a satellite dish. The "Gonzo nose" thing I'm not concerned about. I have seen those before. But this "hat" like thing I have not. It appears to have some kind of dandy lion like seed things too.

That's kind of cool looking. It reminds me of the aliens from War of the Worlds movie.

The tall dish looking one is Acetabularia. It also looks like you have Codium on the snail and in the background which is the pipe cleaner looking algae.

I forgot to mention we used to call this "mermaid's wineglass" in the store i worked in, I'm not sure what retailers call it nowadays.

thanks. That helped me find more info on it. Looks like "mermaid's wineglass" is still the common name. There appears to be some kind of confusion over whether it's a single cell or not, but no matter though. That is just about the coolest looking algea I've ever seen. I've got 2 snails with it growing on them. I kind of hope it spreads some more.

If nothing else, I think the snail will drag it around the tank for a while... maybe it has a greater chance of spreading that way :)

Yep, a macro algae. Beautiful! I tried buying some last year and the supplier ran out. If you'd got extra t spare I'll buy some from you. LMK.

It looks like a drag chute to me. Maybe he's about to base jump.

This algae is normally collected in FL in the shallow grass flats but it seems to die back during winter so most people don't collect it this time of year.

I found one in my filter sock and when i plopped him back in the tank, that's exactly what happened. A perfect 3-point landing.
