bbyatv November 27, 2011 Share November 27, 2011 I built my Blue Spot Jaw Fish a new home. Check it out. It took him about 2 weeks to move in, but he finally did. Bruce
surf&turf November 27, 2011 Share November 27, 2011 That's pretty cool!!! What did you use around the opening?
bbyatv November 27, 2011 Author Share November 27, 2011 Thanks. I used a piece of live rock rubble I had around. The piece was kind of flat and was just right. I drilled it with a masonary bit and glued it on. Bruce That's pretty cool!!! What did you use around the opening?

steveoutlaw November 27, 2011 Share November 27, 2011 That's awesome. Did you put any sand in the PVC or are you just going to let it collect there naturally?
bbyatv November 27, 2011 Author Share November 27, 2011 Ha, are you kidding. He will not tolerate one grain in his tube. Bruce That's awesome. Did you put any sand in the PVC or are you just going to let it collect there naturally?
ChrisTran November 27, 2011 Share November 27, 2011 will 1/2" PVC pipe be big enough for jawfish to move around inside the tube?
SunWyrm November 27, 2011 Share November 27, 2011 Awesome. Can this setup work for a pair or does the entrance need to be bigger?

bbyatv November 27, 2011 Author Share November 27, 2011 I think 1/2" would be too small. Bruce will 1/2" PVC pipe be big enough for jawfish to move around inside the tube?

RicSG November 30, 2011 Share November 30, 2011 (edited) Awesome idea. I hate when he moves sand himself and it is all over the place. This way he will have to worry about nothing and my tank will be mess free. Also no worries about rock shift. But one question what if some thing falls in it, like crab? bbyatv November 30, 2011 Author Share November 30, 2011 No idea on the crab falling in? Likely the fish would spit him out of the tube? Awesome idea. bbyatv November 30, 2011 Author Share November 30, 2011 By the way, if you already own a Blue Spot Jaw Fish, do not add an Algae Blenny to your tank. In my case I added the Jaw Fish after I already had the Algae Blenny. They seemed to get along fine for a while. Then the Jaw Fish moved into the PVC tube home (as described above)and the Blenny could not stand that idea. The Blenny, just sits up on a rock and stairs at the tube opening. As soon as he sees the Jaw Fish, he attacks. I had to build a cage out of egg crate that sits over the tube opening. The Jaw Fish can move freely through the egg crate cage, but the openings are too small for the Blenny to fit through. The Jaw Fish is safe and just enjoys hangning out in his den temping and teasing the Blenny. Bruce

bbyatv November 30, 2011 Author Share November 30, 2011 Here is a pic of the Jaw Fish teasing the Blenny. Notice the opening to the PVC tube below the Jaw Fish. I love to watch this game of cat and mouse play out. Bruce
