surf&turf June 3, 2012 June 3, 2012 Looks great Steve, what's the purple coral at the top of the second to the last pic?
Incredible Corals June 3, 2012 Author June 3, 2012 Looks great Steve, what's the purple coral at the top of the second to the last pic? The top left corner is a piece of grape monti. Right next to that is an indo purple acro.
surf&turf June 4, 2012 June 4, 2012 Sorry, top right, kind of purple/maroon, looks like it encrusts with just some tips starting to grow.
Incredible Corals June 4, 2012 Author June 4, 2012 what lighting are you running on the tank? Ati 6x39 and 2 36" reef brites LEDs for some extra pop
Incredible Corals June 4, 2012 Author June 4, 2012 Of course after i take pics of the tank my acro in the front of the tank and the purple acro in the back left start to rtn. Might have save 50% but only time will tell.
surf&turf June 4, 2012 June 4, 2012 Wow, sorry to hear Steve, when I started having issue's with my SPS, I started using Seachems Purigen pillow. One pillow treats 100 gallons for about a month. Helps remove DO, Nitrates, and other bad stuff.
Incredible Corals June 9, 2012 Author June 9, 2012 Started to remove the paint on the left side of the tank to make it viewable. Adam with artfully acrylic is going to come over and get the scratches out of the outside and inside. This is about 2 hours of work right here.
Incredible Corals June 10, 2012 Author June 10, 2012 3 hours later I finished the left side. Now let's see if Adam can get the scratches out.
Incredible Corals June 10, 2012 Author June 10, 2012 Only thing I have going for me is the acrylic is 1" thick so there is a lot of room to play with.
Incredible Corals June 11, 2012 Author June 11, 2012 What made you decide to open that side up? I guess just sick of looking at a big black square on one side. It's really cool to sit on the couch and stare at the tank right next to your shoulder.
epleeds June 11, 2012 June 11, 2012 now all you have to do is spend 6 hours cleaning the back of the tank.
Incredible Corals June 11, 2012 Author June 11, 2012 It also feels like the tank doubled in size. Looking at the front of the tank you couldn't get the feel of how deep the tank is. Now it's obvious! Lol
smallreef June 11, 2012 June 11, 2012 (edited) well... looking AWESOME why go with the black trim? Edited June 11, 2012 by smallreef
smallreef June 11, 2012 June 11, 2012 nevermind... didnt notice it in the before pictures.. its much more noticeable now though....
roni June 11, 2012 June 11, 2012 I like the non painted look as well How have your chromis been doing? have you noticed them schooling or picking each other off? I'm thinking of adding a school of 20-25 to my tank to get some nice small schoolers in.
Incredible Corals June 11, 2012 Author June 11, 2012 now all you have to do is spend 6 hours cleaning the back of the tank. OMG that would be terrible. My fingers are killing me right now! I like the non painted look as well How have your chromis been doing? have you noticed them schooling or picking each other off? I'm thinking of adding a school of 20-25 to my tank to get some nice small schoolers in. They were doing fine for a while. I had 6 since I pretty much started the tank and they never bothered each other (still have the original 6). However, I added another 6 and they were all going after the little guy. They do all swim together around the top of the tank which looks awesome. I pulled the tiny chromis out that was getting picked on and put him in the fuge. Also, one of the bigger chromis that is 3" was doing this really weird dance on one of the walls. It would put it's belly on the wall and do a little circle dance while twitching. Kept doing that over and over and over and wouldn't allow any of the other fish around. That was the start of them picking on the tiny one. Muddy357 saw this when he was taking pics. No clue what is up.
ArtFully Acrylic (Adam B) June 11, 2012 June 11, 2012 You did a good job as directed getting the paint off...stuff worked out well then huh ? Did the fumes cause any laugh attacks or did you keep very well ventilated as prescribed . If I can get a bit of a breather I will try to stop by sometime later in the week to assess in person and test a small area. Obviously though pics are worth a 1000 words they don't come close to showing the "real picture" when it comes to acrylic scratches.

There are a lot of scratches so hopefully it can be mostly fixed so I don't have to paint it black again.
Incredible Corals September 2, 2012 Author September 2, 2012 It's been a while so I figured I would take a new FTS.
L8 2 RISE September 2, 2012 September 2, 2012 I love the orange shoulder! Probably one of my favorite tangs.
Incredible Corals September 3, 2012 Author September 3, 2012 I love the orange shoulder! Probably one of my favorite tangs. Gotta credit trockafella on that one. He gave it to me when you moved his tank. Just about doubled in size in the last year.
