bcjm January 28, 2011 January 28, 2011 My refugium is about 20"x10" area in the sump. The micro algae in it never grows well. I am using a 65W power compact light. I think the light is not strong enough. What do you think?
Origami January 28, 2011 January 28, 2011 I've used this lamp, or similar. http://www.melevsreef.com/fuge_bulb.html
Glenn January 28, 2011 January 28, 2011 what's the "color" of your 65w PC light? I think I'm using a 6500K light and the chaeto is doing great.
Supernova26 January 28, 2011 January 28, 2011 Same here 65w pc 6500K. Chaeto and caulpera grows really well.
bcjm January 28, 2011 Author January 28, 2011 There must be something else wrong then. Myabe I don't feed the refugium enough water.
sen5241b January 28, 2011 January 28, 2011 (edited) I have 2 20 watt Halogens and my cheato grows like crazy BUT the halogens burn very hot. Edited January 28, 2011 by sen5241b
treesprite January 29, 2011 January 29, 2011 Maybe there is something else keeping the macros from growing. If your water is nutrient-poor, the macros will suffer.
