lionfish, they arent exactly reef friendly, they like to eat other smaller fish, but ive never had one so i may not be the best to anwser

It is poisonous, but so are other fish many of us keep. Also, most corals are poisonous. I wouldn't let that stop you.

They do not play well with other fish. As with most fish, it all depends what you want in your tank.

To answer your question, yes you can have it at home, but you should be careful about planning what other fish (if any) you want.

Lionfish are commonly sold in fish stores.

I saw a small-ish one last week for sale at SuperPetz (I would not recommend shopping there for fish though). They also have a huge one that is just for display.

They are pretty interesting fish IMO.

Marine Scene in reston usually has a few in stock. I used to have one along with a porky puffer in my tank. Had no issues with them.

Lionfish are native to the Indo-Pacific. They are now present as an invasive species on the East Coast of the US and can be found as far north as Long Island, NY, but are more prevalent off the Gulf Stream states from North Carolina southward. Without a natural predator, they have quickly spread and threaten many other indigenous species. They are venomous and can deliver a painful sting. here it is!

and can i have this fish at home? or is it poisonous?

As was previously stated, the Lionfish (Pterois volitan) is not generally a reef-compatible fish, nor is it a "same size or smaller fish" compatible fish. The mouth on this beast can open VERY wide and he will suck down and attempt to swallow anything that he thinks will fit :-) .. In my first fish-only saltwater tank, I had two volitans (one red, one black), about 6-8 each, and they were quite pleasant to watch. The key thing w/ volitans is to wean them off goldfish (or any other freshwater feeder fish) as quickly as possible. Most everyone feeds them common feeders due to the availability of them - but this is NOT an adequate food source. I fed mine silversides and they did very well.

There are also several varities of dwarf lionfish available in the market. I could never find one but I was always looking out for a Fu Manchu lion - still not sure if it would be reef-compatible but it would definitely ignore anything but the smallest of fish.
